The amount of people i see in that shop picking over the baked goods by hand instead of using the tongs.
They need a security guard with a long ruler to smack their grubby mitts when they go reaching into the bread baskets

It takes a certain exquisiteness for something especial to be expecial. The custardy yellow in Morrisons' logo now makes sense :stuck_out_tongue::wink:

The tongs are like scissors so I'm sure people don't mix up which end to hold, they are 100% metal which helps and I'm sure they must get cleaned daily

They should be fried not baked anyway, the best ones where from Sainsbury's alperton they had a big bakery and sold lovely doughnuts softon the inside crispy fried on the outside. Then they refitted the store got rid of the bakery and put a pharmacy thing in it, now they are the same as everyone else

Even the great Krispy Kreme do it that way don't they? (apologies if incorrect) Can't say to have ever had a bad donut from them or Lidl. But you are totally correct about Morrisons, whose doughnuts are the only ones I'd never tried before as I didn't shop there. But they recently opened a store near to me and my god I'm never going to choose to get anybody else's doughnuts over theirs again.
Just thinking about it, isn't tongs more unhygienic for two reasons. One is like the coffee shop ice thing going on, the dirty tongs often come in contact with the items. Secondly, you are yourself touching dirty tongs.
If you can carefully pick it up yourself with your hands then maybe it's not so bad after all.

These are not baked on the premises and are defrosted to be made available for sale.

The biggest con of the century.
Their donuts are not freshly baked either. They are brought in frozen and defrosted, sold for 29p each in some stores.
I used to buy regularly till one day I had a bite and was biting into cold, dry donut. I took it back to store and the manager explained the process. Morrison's donuts are better expecially their custard ones.

Used to work at Lidl. The morning rolls are defrosted ready for purchase as well as the doughnuts, sweet buns.
Everything else is baked on site, all at different temperatures accordingly.

This is the usual price. They smell and taste nice.
But they are not made and baked on site, just like major supermarkets they are effectively re heated on site.

True they bake on site. Was talking to one guy's who works in my local. He says that they start baking at 3AM! and continuously bake during day until the last batch at about 1 or 2pm depending on demand.

Anyway they defrost doughnuts and sweet buns but bake some stuff such as bread onsite. Items come frozen as dough and giant computerised machines bake them.
