I have encountered a problem with IKEA dishwasher sliding door kit. One, tiny plastic part broke and I was unable to fix it. I went to IKEA to try to get just the tiny plastic bit. I was told that spare parts for IKEA comes free posted to home address. I wasn't even asked to confirm that I have ever ordered anything from them.

Tiny plastics or metal shelf holder could be free. my own experiences. But when it comes to a broken mirror on a wardrobe. NO! says reciept needed which I forgot somewhere years ago. So maybe with receipt you could get spare parts for free.

Yea they're surprisingly good at it. I once got a kitchen stool in the reduced section because it didn't have the right feet pads, and after ringing them they just sent me some.

I went online and said my new bed was missing parts.
I selected all the parts from the online form, sides, top bottom, slats, bolts, nuts and frame. All the parts arrived and I now have a free bed, all that was required was assembly.

For those who have Malm drawers and so on you can get freebie tethers to ensure they don't topple over. Handy for those who have kids.

Did you go in store to do this? My side panel one the bissa shoe cabinet needs changing as one drawer keeps popping out. I called up yesterday and because it's just over a year old they said take the receipt in and they may give me a new panel as a good will gesture.

Hi, at Ikea Birstall where the returns bit is there are bins on the wall, I just helped myself. No questions asked.

If you ever need some chipboard etc for a home project, they always have a ton of it free in the car park. I needed some white melamine MDF for carpenter to make some similar cupboards to where I'd pulled out an old built in fridge & freezer. Saved me a few quid over buying it new.

I asked in store, a member of store staff popped into a storeroom and came back 2 minutes later with the exact part I needed.

Yep same in Milton Keynes, they have a rack of bins near customer services that you can just grab the piece you need from - can be handy if you are in the area

I bought a lamp with big screw missing, was told they didn't give/sell the screw separately, so went back to store, opened the box for same lamp and grabbed it. Two can tango, Ikea!

One of the cross bar wooden slats on my chest of MALM drawers broke ages ago. I finally remembered to ask and was surprised when she just handed it over! No questions or anything! It's great and then there's a wall of dowells, screws and fitting etc. Love IKEA! (IKEA Croydon)

I used to work for IKEA Contact Centre and can confirm this is the case. If you ring up and can give them the part number if it's like a screw or washer or hinge or something they will send you it for free. If you don't know the part number a lot of the staff are pretty helpful too, will probably help you out if you aren't a total ass about it.

That's what Chiptivo was alluding to, nobody believes him of course, but he amused himself. (_;)
And Quids Johnny Cash song reference
Incidentally, the tubs of spare screws etc are in the Lakeside Thurrock branch too.

I don't know the guy (girl?) personally, but I'm fairly certain in my assumption, that no, he/she didn't actually do that. That really would be theft, wouldn't it?
Are you familiar with the Johnny Cash song, btw? Just out of interest, not having a go, I promise, because if you don't know the song it probably doesn't make a lot of sense. youtube.com/wat…yMM

Not quite sure why I'm persisting with this other than I can't resist the urge to help people not to get into trouble.
Please, don't try to order all the spare parts and make up a free item. I doubt you could do it anyway tbh, but if you did then, yes, that would be theft. I don't know about you but even if I didn't get caught and barred from Ikea at the very least, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.
In the song, the guy works for the car company and decides to help himself (steal!) all the parts he needs to make his own car. The joke is that it takes him so many years to do this that it ends up as a jigsaw of many different models.
It is a humerous song. It isn't possible, it isn't viable and it certainly wouldn't be legal.
Okay?
So have a good life, and remember, nothing comes without a price of some sort (even if it's a criminal record)
