Boots are offering free eye tests until 31st July 2017.
The eye test includes:
Digital retinal photography, which allows us to track the health of your eyes over time
Checks that can help pick up early signs of eye health problems
A full eyesight test and recommendation from your optometrist on any eyesight needs
Advice from our Opticians team, so if you need glasses you can be confident that we'll help you find a pair that you’ll look and feel great in
An eye test at Boots Opticians normally costs £25.
T&Cs from the site:
Only one free eye test voucher per person. Voucher must be presented at time of eye test and cannot be used in conjunction with any other eye test offer or discount. Click on the "Download" button below the main header on the page and it brings up a voucher image that you can either print off or download it on your phone.

My wife is an optician at Boots. She mentioned that they have the vouchers at the tills too - but recommended to get one before you book your appointment just in case they've ran out.

Always free at Tesco opticians, no voucher needed and you can take your prescription to where ever you want to order your glasses

All opticians have to give you your prescription if asked. Even the mighty Boots!

Pupil distance can be another matter

What is the purpose of that pupil distance (is it the same as IPD?)?
And why some of them seem to refuse to do it?

ask someone to measure your IPD (inter pupillary distance) - just watch a youtube vid to see how to do it accurately

Because its needed to make glasses correctly. By not telling you they hope you will use them, and not one of the cheap online shops.
If its wrong you dont look straight out of the lens, but eother slightly inwards or slightl youtwards, and in my experience (it was a big high street brand I no longer use that made the error) you end up feeling like you are slightly drunk, in that everytime you look somewhere different it takes a moment for your eyes to settle and focus.

OK for the tests (but no better than Specsavers, Asda etc) but forget buying the glasses there - outrageously expensive, and again, no better than Specsavers.

Regading "no better than Asda", has Asda ever offered a free eye test via a voucher or similar? I've never seen it for less than £19 I think, but I was wondering if it'd be possible to get it free somehow...

Is this a rolling offer? As in, do they set the expiry to the end of the current month each time? I noticed a few threads for similar Boots offers in recent months.
