These do the same function as an ipad in the manner that a Skoda does the same function as a Rolls Royce, for basic tasks such as browsing, watching video it should be fine for your needs

No need, just install play store and download Kodi (plus all your android apps) from there, takes 5 minutes.
Just did a chat with Amazon and they removed the 'special offers' free of charge :-)

It was today after I received it, I chose Kindle from the online chat drop down and I just said I found the 'special offers' spoilt the tablet so they said it would normally be £10 to remove them but on this occasion they would remove them for free and they came off within a few minutes.

Mate, you almost compared a tv with a brand new Boeing here. There is a price tag too, and you should check it first.
I have an Octavia and I love it. yes, I like Rolls Royce obvious but I can't afford that. For now.
Maybe in 10-20 years.
Try to be reasonable, some people are actually trying to buy something in here, like me. If you're not happy with it just say the good things if they are, and the bad things.

Are you certain? The blurb says it's the new generation, it also mentions Alexa and the colours available match the current 7th generation ones.
Either way my comments are for the 7th gen ones never had the previous ones myself.

To be fair my Warehouse one looked brand new as everything was sealed as if new. However it seemed a no brainer for £4 to swap. By all accounts the changes from the 5th gen and 7th gen are minor. Best review I found was here. Hope it helps.

You can install the Google play store on these tablets. You can even install a new launcher. Just be aware that it is a little buggy in as much as you see the original home screen for a fraction of a second when you press home.
The only difference I really see to the 2015 model is the screen is a little brighter and the tablet is lighter. It's not a great difference really. It has the same SOC / RAM and flash storage. It's a shame you can't root these to install a custom ROM like with the 2015 model prior to 5.3.3.
