Cannot do this anymore. PS3 version is not supported anymore. You simply cannot register the PS3 version, via console, webpage or PSN at all.
I've tried a brand new copy of the game two weeks ago, didn't work and was informed the game isn't supported on older platforms anymore.
The PS3 disc is completely useless now.

Yeah it's quite a long process to get the PS3 version installed a patched, depends how much spare time you have and how much you value it.

Actually the servers being cross platform is the main issue they are facing bringing the game to other platforms (switch, xbox) because they don't want to divide players at all

A PS3 is required to upgrade. It's quite a lot of hassle as you need to install the game on the PS3 and if I recall you need to log in on the PS3 version at least once. I had download so many patches :confused: .

Can't remember the whole process when I did this. But I believe you had to have a PS3. I had to install it on PS3 make an account once the account was up and running and the game registered to my account (you get an activation code in the box). I was then able to claim the PS4 version and move my account over to that.

The way it works is a bit weird, you have to redeem the code on PSN (so you could do it through a PC) and then you can manage your account for FF14 on Moogle Station, a website dedicated for the service. In theory you should be able to redeem the code and make an account without having a PS3.

Have a read about mate. I've just had a quick look and it seems the PS3 version may come with a code. I'm wondering if you can create the account on their webpage with the code on the manual.

I'd believe so mate, I'd imagine that you have to create the account via the PS3 console and then upgrade from there.

In fact ignore that last part. You get a 30 day trial with the PlayStation 3 version.

For anybody with a PS3 and PS4. You can upgrade from the PS3 version (£2.39 eBay ) until December 31st, although the end date on this promotion has continuously been extended since around 2015/16.

The only negative based on this deal, which would be a simpler process would be the 14 days compared to the 30 days with this...

It says on the box art there is a 30 day sub included. I've also checked listings at other websites for the same product, like the Square Enix store and they do say it has a month sub included.

Also the PC version is available at GAME for the same price so you may want to add the post.
