Considering how it's a lucky day to get a founders for £650 even this is a steal for £608, never seen a 1080ti with a cooling solution like this at such a cheap price.

You mean apart from yesterday when I posted the same deal?
Jokes aside, if you want this (as the OP will know...) I'd order before 9am.
Yesterday the same price changed at exactly 02:30am and reverted back to £699.99 at around 9am.

I didn't get to order this one when it came up last time.
I did get two of the founders at £582 on Friday though so there is that which was one day before you put it one here incidentally.
Also my shed may be small but It now contains 5 1080tis.

Rules of Fight Club:
1. FE deal has nothing to do with this, it was £582 and you listed it at £650. So, I call BS, post a screen shot of your order.
2. Always credit the original poster.
3. My shed is better than yours.
4. These are 1 order per household, so I also call BS.

9 Jul 17#13
The 2nd one was ordered on prime now which made itself to me that very day. Must be a good way to get around one per household rules by the looks.

There needs to be competition, there's no evidence yet that AMD have a competitive product in Vega, so we'll see when Vega arrives, if it's the usual AMD hype which it's now veering towards then Nvidia won't be pressed to release anything too soon and carry on milking the 1070 and 1080 line because AMD doesn't compete in that sector yet.
I have R9 270 GPU so I'm not biased against AMD.
The_Hoff
9 Jul 17#23
You mean except for the fact Vega FE is highly competitive against the 1080GTX (and Ti) pending the price point.
If they can hit £500 they have a solid product based on Reddit benches and so on.

The_Hoff
9 Jul 17#34
Can't be much profit in that once you factor conversion and energy costs?
The_Hoff
9 Jul 17#35
37MH/S Eth with FE. But Vega is amazing for Monero, like SERIOUSLY profitable.
Uzukami
9 Jul 171#36
Conversion costs like £4.00 and energy is mostly offset with my solar panels, especially during the day for obvious reasons.
Let's snowball a hypothetical gaming system that mines on the side, let's go with 2x 1080ti at the current rate it would make around ~0.004BTC which is worth ~£8 that system over 24H uses 18KWH of electricity let's say 14p per KWH £2.52 in power cost.
So overall £8-£2.52 = £5.42 a day for that system.
Bare in mind that Cypto can and has crashed many times before and I've only being doing this as a hobby/investment with money I can more than afford to lose.
If I carry on I'll trip all my breakers by drawing too much power.

10% more cost for no performance increase?
Benefit of this is it uses reference PCB from what I've read (in the case of 1080's, no bad thing) and that means you can slap a Hybrid AIO or EK block on it in the future to drive it a bit harder.
Either way though, decent price.

The_Hoff
9 Jul 17#45
Not sure RE heat and noise, haven't seen a direct comparison, but (I say this as an Asus Croashair 6 owner) EVGA's warranty and after sales is enough to make me a customer, Asus, not so much. A month turn around versus 3 days for EVGA...
Unless you have a particular need for it, I'd go for the FTW3 card if you want RGB etc.
Dekard97
9 Jul 17#46
What's the difference between the ti and the founders edition? I thought both were 11gb
The_Hoff
9 Jul 171#47
Nothing really at memory or chip level (it's the same), only really cooling differs which impacts thermals and ultimately determines how the boost clock reacts to the card temperature. Better cooling means more stable boost clock and better OC.
With the price of this being so close to the FE I wouldn't bother with the FE. If it were this card or a £666 Strix or FTW3 (ignoring the SC2 deal I also posted yesterday at £641) I'd go with the FE personally, I'd then hybrid cool it down the line. But it's all personal preference of course.

Heated a very good deal. Seriously considering whether I should upgrade from my current R9 Fury to this, as it does seem a great deal for a 1080ti and the 1080ti would be better for my 4K display. Just I haven't had the Fury long (amazon warehouse deal) and the resale on them seems a bit poor and variable atm (anything from under £200 to £300 on ebay), I'm guessing the Fury isn't a good mining card? as it doesn't seem to have enjoyed anything like the price explosion the 480 and 580s have. If I got £300 for the Fury I could probably manage the other £300 or so for this, but any less and I'd be REALLY struggling to afford it.
BTW is the i7 3770 (non K) a decent pairing for this card?, or would it hold it back too much to really stretch it's legs?
Would be an amazing performance bump for potentially £300 though, very very tricky decision.....
Uzukami
9 Jul 17#52
At 4K you are barely if ever really limited by the CPU.
I can pull good frame rates on the 1080ti I have with a 3330s in it even.
The_Hoff
9 Jul 17#53
If it helps you I sold my Nitro Fury 4 weeks ago on eBay for £275 via auction, bought for £299 from OCUK a year prior.
Fury is OK for mining ETH but is really only equivalent to 480/580 when factoring increased TDP. The HBM memory and interface isn't optimal for mining.
If you value the resale of the card, I'd sell (as I did) before the 480/580 come back in to stock, the price will drop further. Right now people are building mining rigs using CF Fury as they can't get RX cards.
Your CPU is fine, and gaming wise I think you'd be 4/5 years out of a Ti if you needed to.
I wouldn't buy it if you can't afford it yet I would wait till you have saved up a bit more who knows the prices might come down even more on black Friday deals or before. the fury is still a very good card for now. I'm going to have to put in some serious overtime this month to afford mine.

Absolutely correct. I've got the MSI 1080 ti 11g partnered with an OC 6600k running at 4.4. I've seen some lab tests and the 6600 k is just as fast at gaming as the i7 7700k.
These days the cpu is becoming increasingly marginalised when using powerhouse gpu. I game at 4K always everything on ultra and the TI doesn't even have to work hard at all. I do have a lot of noctua cooling though.
My advice for gamers is to save money on your CPU and GP for an I5. The i7 is a waste of money with gaming. Forget the new amd Chips as you don't need all those cores for gaming.
Also if you aren't gaming at 4K the ti is a waste of money. But at least you are future proofed

I don't see any way a card of this size is fitting in there. Even if it did your PSU is going to be struggling and then there's also the thermal throttling you're going to experience.
TLDR, strip out your components, drop them in to a NZXT S340/Corsair/Fractal case, enjoy a PC that performs better
This review also suggests your CPU is suffering a lot in that case, freeing it up and cooling it properly will give you much greater performance.

I don't know a lot about these cards but I think they overclock automatically based on temperature, voltage regulation and power draw etc. I was playing Rise of the Tomb Raider the other day at absolute max graphics (everything to the right, exceeding the ultra preset) at 2560x1440 2x SSAA and it was hitting about 75 degrees at clock speeds somewhere in the lines of 18XX (core) and 55XX (memory).
