Make your home smarter with Mi|Home! Alexa Controlled Smart Plugs
The Energenie Mi|Home Starter Pack contains a remote control, x3 control adapters and gateway. The Mi|Home adapters can be controlled via the Mi|Home app or web browser using the Mi|Home Gateway. This product receives commands from the Mi|Home gateway and doesn't send a confirmation of action back to it. The adapters can also be used with our other features such as timers. As well as timers, the Sockets can be controlled with IFTTT (If This Then That), this allows you to turn them on using the weather, ESPN, facebook to name but a few. It also means they can be used in conjunction with the Phillips Hue and Nest, for example.

I'd love to vote this hot, but for some reason it's greyed out. In terms of price this is the best currently available, RRP £90, Amazon 15% off £76.49, elsewhere £60, so BT are the cheapest by £10.
I'd only question what appliances you are going to use this on? Most things that you'd want to control remotely (TV, Music) come with their own remote control, & can't be switched back on if you kill the power. Lights - you can get wifi bulbs for around £15.

My TP links are connected to lamps. I think that is the best use for them, especially with Alexa.
Also when Christmas comes they are ideal to control Christmas lights as they are notoriously hard to reach.

We use them for fans. Handy at night when in bed and want to turn the fan on/off. Although I just use cheap £15 single plugs from Amazon

good price against the average bundle price.
i've been looking a lot at zigbee, z-wave, enocean devices to use with a raspberry pi.
if you go that route, it's cheaper to get a 4 pack plug set and the pi add-on board:
yes, the energenie range mainly seems to be smart wall sockets or these adaptors.
good for controlling table lamps. and with so many wifi connected devices, these don't compete for the signals.
but I would go for Sonoff smart devices (really using them for the timed settings and reprogrammed for a local network/raspberry without the cloud app)

I was looking at these, but the Amazon reviews are very poor. Talk about slow response with these and no feedback, so the apps don't show you whether they've switched on or off.

So, not really that many uses, then? I can't seem to find a use for these, either

This is the price I picked it up for I'm sainsburys near Christmas, and I must say it's crap.... It really is, if you want plugs in another room forget it. Unless you buy the more expensive plugs it doesn't know if it's on or off it only sends the signal and that's it... Most of the time they don't turn on. There is a a major delay in anything it does, I bought the motion sensor also. Put it on the stairs with a lamp. I would be upstairs and back down again before it decided to turn on. The UI is crap, website is worse...... So much so that I don't use them anymore. They are useless. I do not recommend these. I bought the TP link WiFi plugs on the prime day event and they are amazing. Instant on, it knows of its on or off. I bought 4 and I'm going to replace all of these. Enegery plugs for the WiFi ones as there is litrally no comparison..... These are my views from owning both products.

Although not recommended for Xmas lights of the LED nature

I have these.. Save your money people. Alexa turn on lamps... Alexa turn on lamps... ALEXA TURN ON LAMPS... Sometimes it's instant and others I'm having a very one sided argument with Alexa. The app is no better and the remote has never worked.

Why would you use sockets to control the lamps though, wouldnt you be better with hue bulbs.. the standard white bulbs are £14.99 each so 3 would be cheaper than this deal?

Not as cheap but the TP Link smart plugs are excellent bits of kit. Very reliable and work with Alexa flawlessly as well. Highly recommended.

Good price for 3 sockets as I have been buying TP link at 25 to 35 a socket

I've got these, picked up on an Amazon deal of the day about in November for £38, they seemed to be on quite regularly on offer around then but haven't looked recently.
I use them to control my garden lights and a couple of inside ones which I can't get Hue bulbs to fit. I don't often use the instant on / off functions, just the timers. I do agree with the reviewers who say they are slightly unreliable although a recent firmware update for the hub has definitely improved it. Probably once every two weeks or so, the outside lights don't switch off at the required time and very occasionally they don't switch on. I've had virtually no problems at all with the inside ones, so I think it's most likely the distance of the units from the hub and probably the fact the one for the outside lights is in a metal shed at the side of the house. I've set two timers for each light so they get two signals to turn on or off within a few minutes of each other which again helps.
These work with IFTTT so easy to program up as part of a house automation system although the MiHome apps are good and there's a basic but functional website you can use to program them too.
Recommended at this price certainly.

What are you expecting them to do?! I must admit I'm hoping for an affordable kettle at some point to use with it.

I've been using these for a few years to control indoor sockets. They've always been rock solid for me (and amazingly cheap compared to ALL of the alternatives). Nice IFTTT integration as well, which opens it up to Google Home, etc

Got them for around this price 6 months ago and use them via Alexa. Handy for older family members with limited mobility for hard to reach switches.
Work reliably 1st time about 80% of time but with 1 or 2 second delay (sometimes 10). No real hardship to repeat a command.
Good price as long as you accept limitations.
And although the couple of wifi bulbs I have using Lightify are much more responsive, the energenie sockets are particularly handy for lamps with odd or multiple bulbs.

You need the Hue bridge before you can use the single bulbs.
haritori
15 Jul 171#18
Yes, once you have the bridge it makes sense to use HUE, or you could use a different brand that doesnt need the bridge.. I mean what ever is right for you is fine, personally I am struggling to think of a real reason for the switches..
I have a few echos and just started to use the HUE system.. I can see myself replacing all the lights in the house with white hue bulbs and dimmers, and all the lamps with the RGB bulbs, Im going to put a motion sensor in the kitchen an have it control the lighting in there the GU10's are expensive though..
But the switches I cannot think of a reason for them.

Better to get some cheap rf operated sockets like these..
..to control not only the sockets but most things in your house that use either ir or rf remotes. The best bit is you can then use some software on an android device to link up to your Alexa devices..search youtube for videos that will explain better.

Because I got them just after Alexa came out and hue was far more expensive than it is now plus you need a bridge so there goes your idea
