Played on PC / PS4 version with controller and hotas.

Just be warned if you use BT Infinity especially if you have the newer ‘Smart Hub’. They are having issues at the moment where the game disconnects every 5-10 minutes and there is no offline mode. I’m having the exact same issue and haven’t been able to play it since launch.

I have a Home Hub 5 and am only experiencing random lag with other live players on Open Play. Solo Play does not present the issues strangely enough

I have a Home Hub 5 and have no issues accept the occassional glitchy jumpy CMDR in Open Play (only)
What Hub have you got and what have you experienced?

I've found a fix from the forum, connect to the Home hub and move the PS4 into the DMZ. Then open settings on you PS4 and go to the networking part. Then tap wifi or Lan depending on setup and change the MTU setting to 1473 and change DNS to 8.8.8.8 and Secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4.
Had no disconnects since ☺️

Has to be flat (and then calibrated) each time. If it's not flat then the Base will cause flight drift and it will all get God damn aweful. I would go with your pad for say a couple of months and see if a hotas is still on your radar?. A good opportunity for the misses to see the game..and put in a Xmas request for the hotas at that point.. (y) (y) (y)

Great game just make sure you know what you are getting into. The trailer does not really show this game for what it is.

Very true. The official trailer is bordering on misrepresentation!..but there is a very unique charm to this game that brings me back and back

Hmmm? Would a lap top tray or similar be adequate? Someone said it needs to be perfectly flat or it drifts? And must be recalibrated each time, which on its own is doable? Hope not, as no way the missus'll let me get one of those chair-rig things!

Is it a better experience with some sort of flight joystick?
Thrustmaster Hotas 4 is the official PS4 stick. Before spending your money I would consider where the equipment is going to sit on relation to your sitting position at home..

No quite. I've played across XB1 and PS4 on controller only. I can be departed in 6 seconds..and docked in 1 minute. Elite is a game you must stick at for the refined experience

I personally love this game (also loved no mans sky) but be warned this is different - it's not the type of game you can pick up and play straight away it has a very steep learning curve and is very easy to become frustrated - but if you stick with it could be one of the best games you ever bought!
I have played this before with a HOTAS and yes is a moe emerged experience, but I personally prefer the pick up and play PS4 controller.
Also note you can play the single player mode with just an internet connection, but you will also need a PSN+ paid subscription should you want to play online with other players.

Most of of my friends are on regular controller, takes a bit of getting used too.
I started on hotas and as I'm travelling for a week. Playing via remote play.
It's no where near as good as hotas but slowly getting used to it.
Landing is a nightmare on controller

Is it a spoiled experience using a normal ps4 controller?

My husband wants this for his birthday, I've never bought anything from the Game Collection before, is it a good reliable website?

Thank you, I have the base game on the pc and I have not played it for some time, seeing the ps4 version been released, I was considering buying it ps4 if the game included all the other bits without the need if a code, using the code would seriously affect its resale value ..... I might just update the PC version and wait for a season pass sale for now.... Great game though.

Great price. I totally love this game on pc and got it on ps4 because my pc isn't powerful enough really. It isn't the sort of game that will sell in huge numbers on console and so check YouTube like already said before purchase
Does the game come with a code for the game, or is it a straight install, I'm just thinking of resale value.

"Core" version (space flight only) is based on the disc. Horizons (planetary landings) and 1000 Frontier points is via the DLC code in the box
The way they have done this is great because it allows you to make a choice considering its a very different game
Great to have a very different game to buy. Think of it as a cockpit based flight sim with commodity trading, research missions, smuggling all wrapped up in a mild flight sim. It also has a very dedicated community of followers and broadcast from the Dev are very regular
There are hundreds of YouTube videos available to watch prior to purchase
I have played it on PC, XB1 and PS4 over the course of three years and can never get enough
