I left a review of this monitor last time it was posted, you definitely get what you pay for. The build quality is sub par, very plasticy and flimsy, like even part of the plastic on the mount was shattered from shipping. The speakers are laughable not worth using at all, and even when disabled they let out an audible hiss. The panel is not so bad since most 4k monitors at 28" use the same one, but differences in back-light used can effect the image and this one is pretty poor, the colours look very washed out by default and requires some serious tuning to look acceptable, which you'd have to do in your graphics card settings as the settings on the monitor are lacking. My panel also had a group of dead pixels. I returned it immediately and bought an IPS 4k monitor from LG and am very happy with it well worth the extra I paid.

Yes this has HDMI 2.0 ports so should play 4K @ 60 FPS from external sources (love to know where you'd get internal sources from, maybe from the EMI due to crappy components inside the monitor?)
Possibly a Chinese name they missed a winner of a name here though should have called it ElectriQute! That's a possibility! I'm selling this deal to you folks

They're both very demanding. At this size I would probably opt for 1440 for gaming. UHD for gaming/movies. Ultrawide for productivity.

If you're looking for a monitor, don't buy this it's 60hz, much better to go for a 144hz even if it is a bit smaller, like the samsung in the other thread, it's a much better deal. I'd take a 24" 144hz Samsung over this any day of the week.

Having been caught out recently by manufacturers specs which are little more than lies I'm now extremely wary of what I read
a 1mS response time? Then you find it's the fastest grey to grey and they don't quote the figure you really need to know !
Having said that, you should definitely steer clear of this monitor because of its very low refresh rate of only 30Hz. When we are now looking at monitors with 144Hz for gaming, and even IPS and VA screens managing 60Hz, this is going to make gaming very jerky indeed.
As for the questions about 4K or 144Hz you should perhaps look more to the panel tech first.
TN for gaming because its fast
IPS VA for photography video editing etc, and if possible 10 bit colour too, because it has wide viewing angles better uniformity, higher resolution, and more colours, but it's slow compared to TN.
Erm, let me tell you this has always been the case.
Thoughtful
30 Jul 17#30
In this case it was stating a panel response time was 5ms when it was 13ms without the caveat that the faster speed was obtained by firmware which badly affected image quality, and that it was 1.07 billion colours indicating 10 bit, without mentioning it is 8 bit and using FRC to dither the pixels.
To say it's misleading is being kind !
Thoughtful
30 Jul 17#32
In the headline specs it does say that, but if you actually go to the full specification it says:
Refresh Rate 30Hz
I tend to believe the lower over the higher personally.

Is there any point in it having freesync if it doesn't support more than 60hz?
ollie87 to dannymaccy
30 Jul 17#34
Yes, if your GPU struggles with 60fps @ 4k.
30fps can be okay in some games. I keep saying that over and over, but PC gaming is about choices, if you're happy with 4K 30fps then that's fine. If you're not there's plenty of other options out there for you.

I bought a yamakasi Catleap many moons ago direct from a Korean seller on eBay.
27" 1440p and apparently (never tried) overclockable to 120Hz.
Must've bought it what 3/4 years ago now for ~£250 and I must say one of the best Tech purchases I've ever made.
Absolutely no trouble with it whatsoever
I think if anything went wrong with it I'd likely jumt on eBay and see what I can get in the 27"-32" 1440p

****.
It all depends on the game and how variable the framerate is.
Playing a fighting game at a non locked framerate is like trying to carve a chicken with a pencil.
Many game's physics are not locked to framerate so more FPS can actually make things harder to play.
With older games you can often 'cheat' by having a higher resolution by seeing more of the map at the same time.
However if you are talking twitch reflex games, I agree.
4K requires a stupid amount of hardware grunt and it's really not worth it for gaming. Gorgeous for Films and TV, but the hardware is not mainstream for gaming.
