Was this a very quick purchase, so that you were able to post a new listing within the promotional period? Otherwise, I'm not sure how a replacement purchase would help.

Same thing happened to me. Called eBay and I was told to cancel the order and ask the buyer to pay again. Risky move as the buyer may find this strange, but it worked for me on this occasion

Not much that you can do at this point, I'm afraid, other than being aware of the restriction for future listings and perhaps taking down any multi-item listings that you still have active if you're not happy with the fee.

And we're not talking about lime green and hot shot pink or anything. Two mainstream colours, where I'm sure gold doesn't outsell silver by a factor of ten.

Much too small of a sample to draw any real conclusions, though - and the different colours, for example, could well be a relevant factor.

Purely on listing views.
Did an experiment. Listed two iPhones everything identical apart from one being gold, the other silver. Same price, condition , duration etc
The £1 listing got 6 views, and the other( diff account) 56 in one hour .
Don't think it's a coincidence

It's not just that. It's the buyers. They tend to add my stuff to watch and not bid. As soon as they auto relist after 7-30 days a bid comes in.
It's frustrating as the fees go from £1 to 10% off the sale purchase after relisting.
Recently just spend over £35 in fees, which should've been closer to £8 if things sold within the time frame. ><

Not available for me even though given ebay and Paypal £90 in the last 2 months.
For those recommending Gumtree - you aren't aware that ebay owns it then?!!
Gumtree especially seems to attract weirdos and scammers.
I purposely don't put my number and say if you are interested please message me with your phone number.
Within minutes of listing I'll get a message saying, "Is it still for sale?" or "Hello, this is Mr Frank, Simon, James I am very interested in your item....."
Not the smartest cookies these scammers. For a start who refers to themselves as Mr and secondly do they not have the ability to look up common SURNAMES?!!!

Is there any chance we can have some sort of FAQ's attached every time there's an ebay promo ? Probably half or more of the comments here are for basic things like.. a) why does it not show as valid now - because it hasn't started yet for goodness sake ! b) does my listing have to end within the promo period - no, it only has to be listed in that time
and on....... and on...... and on..... repetition of the same s*upid BASIC questions every time there's a promo !

The promotion is valid for the first 100 listings only which go live during the promotion period (or were previously scheduled to go live during the promotion period) on eBay.co.uk using the auction-style, auction-style with Buy it now option, or fixed price formats, in an eligible category. It's just as easy to save it in drafts instead of making it scheduled if you prefer. I keep a lot in scheduled instead of turbolister, but put a date a few weeks ahead, and keep revising the dates in bulk every ten days or so to ensure they don't go live until needed. When you want them, just tick all the ones you want to list, click on 'edit' and change the start time from 'schedule' to 'start my listings when I submit them', and they then go live. If you do that after accepting the promo, then they form part of the promotional offer.

I'd avoid selling on Ebay, had a nightmare, someone bought an item and deliberately tampered with it to make a fault so they could return it, after they have tried selling it twice as perfect condition and working perfectly. I even have photo evidence to prove this, but they aren't interested, they don't want to see the photos, wont even let me offer a partial refund for how much they tried selling it for. I can't even leave them negative feedback, what a joke!

I sell games and refurbished consoles as a private seller. It's mainly a hobby for now but in the process of moving to a business account to start selling hardware wallets for crypto currencies alongside. I'll move everything over then.
You know you can change buyer parameters in the settings to screen out people who are constantly on the blag, etc. It may take longer to sell but it's worth it. Like I say, not had any bother since Dec last year, maybe one dubious one who wanted me refund them outside the normal procedure, that's it.
I find upping the price a smidgen and giving free postage sells quicker, but that's just me.

All you need to do is get proof of posting. If they claim it has not arrived you can claim your money back and postage cost from Royal Mail. No need to pay for recorded delivery. What the hell are selling to attract people like that? I sell things all the time and rarely have trouble. Anything less than 95% success rate and I'd be selling elsewhere. If it's attracting scammer it's obviously niche or high value, have you tried Amazon?
tsimehC to dannyblackbeard
21 Jul 17#96
Video games - current gen but old-ish. It always causes me headaches unless I send signed recorded delivery and eat up the extra postage costs. Better off just selling it on Gumtree but I have to wade through 10+ lowballers before I get a sensible offer there then hope the buyer actually turns up at the agreed time & location and for a game that's worth under a tenner. Trying to bundle the games up proves to be even more of a challenge.
Are you a registered business seller on eBay by any chance? I occasionally sell stuff so maybe that attracts opportunists too who find it easy to target private sellers though it's hard to tell if the power sellers suffer from this as eBay doesn't have a completed listings that get cancelled and there's no way to leave a bad feedback to the scammers.
I sell digital goods on there too but it's a massive risk, funnily enough only had one issue out of about ~30 items over a couple of years.

Ebay CS will always side with the buyer so even as a private seller stating no returns you can get shafted with the postage costs both ways if the buyer finds fault or just changes their mind. Just be aware that there's liabilities involved in listing stuff and accepting payment by Paypal.

You get the same sorts on eBay plus eBay has PayPal chargeback "I got hacked" scammers. I had the pleasure of dealing with one such cretin today on there (I posted up 4 items this week - one non-buyer who refused to pay for some reason; 50% successful selling isn't too bad I guess but I'm dreading that stupid £14 chargeback fee which I forgot is a thing when listing up a cheap untracked items).

That's a valid point of view but not everyone on shpock and gumtree is a weirdo drug addict. And it's really easy for an eBay buyer to rip you off just as much as a gumtree buyer. The difference is that eBay will support the buyer while he rips you off

August is actually the worst month for selling, so this is why these offers are available - loads of potential buyers are either away on Holiday or are holding onto/just spent all their money on their holiday, so buying less online. Having said that, I'll still be using this offer as there is the end of the month payday coming up, but I don't expect much to go after that...love to be wrong, but not in the last few years, regardless what it was I was selling.

woohoo. It worked. It's usually rare it works... it tends to work if I have had recent activity. I have had recent activity. A month ago when they did another £1 fvf! muwhahhaha. Really cool though. I sold 2-3 expensive items where the buyer was a time waster (SO ANNOYING when they decide they dont want it after winning your auction especially when it was already selling for more than you expect). I never relisted them because where they were £100 / £1 fvf, relisting would be the default 10%, e.g. £10fvf... thank god I have another opportunity so soon.

So,to get this offer you need to list your stuff from 23/07 to 24/07 but doesn't matter when it sells, right? Or your listing needs to end by 24/07? Just read T&C,it's up to 30 days after listing.

Can I schedule items to start during the promotional period and get a 1 fvf?
Work for me too  perfect , they basically seems to be one of these every month at the moment .
These offers always seem to happen on bank holiday weekends too , so I am guessing one month from the end of this offer another will kick in , due to the bank holiday.

Ffs can't sell anything expensive on eBay without one of these as the combined fees of theirs + Paypal's are horrendous. Says expired for me.

Thanks. I have changed the title date so it is correct now. Everyone...please check the T&C's if you are accepted. eBay are very strict over this sort of thing and will charge you the normal selling rate if you do not adhere to their terms.

 Nice find. It won't appear in your offers section until the 23rd. Obviously don't try to sell anything until that date. You can create listings as drafts i.e. get them all ready and then position live on Sunday
Opening post
Interestingly it's the same link as posted here:
hotukdeals.com/dea…464
...and, it's not appearing in MyeBay promotional offers section after it was accepted. But we shall see what happens at the weekend

The £1 listing got 6 views, and the other( diff account) 56 in one hour .
Don't think it's a coincidence
It's frustrating as the fees go from £1 to 10% off the sale purchase after relisting.
Recently just spend over £35 in fees, which should've been closer to £8 if things sold within the time frame. ><
Hello, this is Mr Marcus.....dwads!!
Do 3 listings
Deal doesn't go live yet (although we are able to accept the offer now ready for Sunday use). I was able to accept the offer this morning ready for me to list products on Sunday.
Please un-expire !
Now what do I want to sell...
This happens once a month now so I reset all my unsold listings and add new ones. I rarely pay their normal fee. It's extortionate anyway.
working on my ebay
I only sell one or two items a month at most and had my account for probably at least 10 years now, I have around 250~ feedback at 100% positive.
Gumtree trades should be done ideally in public space anyway.
Just read T&C,it's up to 30 days after listing.
so HOT AS HELL - thanks OP
