This game definitely needs a remake, it would be the coolest game with Doom4 engine.

good game but its worth getting BFG edition imo, esp if there is even a wiff of a chance you may one day get a VR hmd.

People actually pay attention to those? I see them as an advisory that the game might have an issue or two but 9/10 cases I can get any game to work on Windows 10 regardless of its age.

Get the BFG edition or you will be stuck with 4 :innocent: resolutions, you can edit ini file, but you can tell it's still looks a bit botched when you do that. Amazing to play in pitch black room.

I bought the BFG edition the other day for less than a fiver from Greenman gaming, and you can mod it so that it works in VR with the Vive. It's awesome then!

I can confirm, works absolutely fine on win10, you will need to edit a file ( I use Notepad++) in order to get a more modern resolution as the highest in-game goes to 1600x1200 and you will probably need fullHD
X:\ your STEAM folder \steamapps\common\Doom 3\base\DoomConfig.cfg
rememeber !!! :
''Please note: If you change anything in the graphics options in game, then the custom settings will be lost and you will have to re-edit the cfg file.''
In short : enter the game -> set graphic settings to 'ultra', don't touch resolution - > click 'apply the settings' - > leave the game -> edit the DoomConfig.cfg file and... voila

Yep, actually pretty painless. Have a disc copy of the game that runs fine. Had plenty of issues personally when I was on 7 though however so ymmv

I don't know whether to get this, or wait and see if the Xbox versions becomes backwards compat....I refuse to play BFG edition since they removed the option to have only weapon or torch

Definitely works on Windows 10 Pro. I've been playing it about 5 minutes ago.

It might it work on newer OS's of the launcher or exe link file is a 16 bit app. I've been trying to play an old pc game with a 16 bit Launcher and it won't work on Windows 10. May or may not be the case but something to be wary of with older games. With gog for instance I think they compile the files to a compatible 32bit one somehow. Maybe with some expensive software that I found but didn't want to buy

Doubt many will care too much about it not supporting OSes earlier than 2000, unless 98 still has a big following hidden away somewhere.
Be surprised if it flat out won't run on newer OSes (though entirely possible), I think Steam just have to put that with older games to cover themselves if it doesn't work.
I actually thought it was the newer version at first, tbh considering the age of the game (and the rather meh reception compared to the originals) I'd say 95p is about right for it....
