Cheapest i have seen this. Only downside is 7-9 day free delivery. Or £24.99 for insured 7-9 day delivery. Also how reliable is eGlobalCentral for deliveries. I have never bought from them before. Maybe someone else has had experience with them?

Be careful. Sounds like they do not ship from UK but from their 'International warehouse'. This could mean you get stung for VAT + Import duty!!! Plus if there is a fault you might have to pay to ship it back to China!!!
For something of this value best to stick to UK supplier as you have proper warantee and consumer rights!

Consider the Hubsan H501S. Loads of features,small, fun and costs only around £150.

Professionally is a differnet matter.
If you get any sort of payment for any work done such as filming (Commercial gain is the phrase used) then Yes you need to take exams and get a licence, but for just hobby flying you don't.
You could consider a used Phantom 2 or 3 they'll go for around £300 or so with a GoPro that will at least let you try it out. Yes the Mavic is better but its also its a lot more, or go to the BMFA's web site and see if there is a local model club, someone there may let you have a trial (under carefull watching of course)
DJI *DO* have GPS based no fly zones (http://www.dji.com/flysafe/no-fly) But other makers, (or home built ones) may not.

I posted a deal on here a few months back. The code still works and works out at just under £732 before you get cash back! With cash back it'll be around £680 ish?
I don't know why but i thought I'd read anyone using one within a professional capacity had to pass some sort of vocational exam and and carry a license of sorts
Very tempted to get one. Although am thinking about the new 'budget' Mavic as 4K etc would all be a waste on me .
Again , probably imagined but I was under the assumption the DJI and all high end drones had some sort of gps system that understood no fly zones etc and prevented /warned you when you come in proximity of one ?

They had 3 in stock yesterday at tech in the basket. But i think i ordered the last one. Cost me about £956 for the fly more combo. Then i opted in for rush + insurance delivery as well.

I've bought a 500 quid camera from techinthebasket and a pricey lens from eGlobal - both were fine and in both cases shipping was from within the EU so no extra charges

Loads of comments in here about the retailer being awful, how many actually have first hand experience with them, like I have stated above. Bought at least £5k of gear from them, no issues at all, other than they take ages to deliver and the customer service is not there, unless you can wait 3 days for an answer.

As an aside what sort of legislation currently surrounds drone usage ? Are the licenses etc only for those that use that use them ? Surely that will change soon enough with incidents growing in frequency and privacy rights being tested and elasticated
The law considers a Drone to simply be a model aircraft, and its technically a multi rotor helicopter, there are no distinctions for say a model plane with a camera fitted and a what we tend to call a "drone".
Most of the code assumes you have a camera equipped drone, if the drone has no camera the rules below are relaxed in some cases as some of the distances in the rules relate to privacy due to filming.
No license is needed in the Uk, Nor is insurance, (but I'd strongly recommend if you have a drone or want to buy a drone, look at the BMFA, membership is £35 a year, and offer £3million public liability insurance) but to say within UK law you have to maintain unaided line of sight to the drone, (specs are fine, binoculars are not).
You should stay under 400ft (although see the line of sight comment, my Phantom is too small for me to see unaided over 100 to 125 ft away) and keep at least 50M for any person or building (unless its the pilot during take off/landing, or something you have specific permission to film). for crowds or built up ares that increases to 150m again unless you have permission to film that crowd.
You are also subject to all the UK Air Navigation orders,which to over simply them says you are not permitted to do anything that may endanger any other aircraft, or use the aircraft to endanger a person, and the ANO have a legal status and so can carry a sentence of up to 5 years in prison..
Having said that most of the rules are really common sense, the biggest area of conflict is most first person view equipped drones can fly for miles from take off point, which violates the line of sight rules.
Banning drones may not stop the problem, most of the issues, flying over crowds / near planes / airports/ building and so on are where the pilot is already breaking existing rules. Drone can be built from simple off the shelf parts (based on a raspberry PI) so there will always be the means to make them even if off the shelf models are banned. DJI drones have a lot of built in protection, I can and do limit mine in terms of how far it can go up and away from the start point, and it also will not fly near airports (as defined by DJI and using the GPS) however if you intend to break the laws anyway you would just not care and disable the features.

I would always purchase from companies like these instead of much more expensive UK companies.
I have always had them delivered by courier and in brand new condition, the only difference is sometimes you also get Chinese instructions and some extra Chinese writing on the box.

I have both and I certainly wouldn't recommend the spark by the time you pay for all the add-ons you may as well but the much better mavic, and the mavic is the one I always come back to when I want to go fly.
I'll probably sell my spark as it's really not all that

Same as any other kit that can be used both legally and illegally. Model flying and Aerial photography are both hobbies, its down to the user to use it responsibly.

Must be like gearbest's "British express" service where it's dispatched from China but goes direct via a UK forwarding company then Yodel - no customs label and no VAT
I have no idea how they manage it but assume it's not fully legit; maybe some sort of B2B transaction then they just ship it out without charging VAT? Or they declare an entire consignment?

Bought over half a dozen high priced electronic items from them so far. Prices are great, customer service is not.
However, they have always delivered the products in good condition packaged, and using local UK courier, and never seen a hint of international post marks or commercial invoice on the box, therefore they must ship to the UK first, then onwards.
They do take a while if you choose the free shipping, circa 8-10 working days, and I've had one take about three weeks. :smiley:
