I've no idea where you get the idea DeWalt are only for budget and Diyers. Many tradesmen use DeWalt and swear by them over Bosch blue and Makita. In fact they are all good and subject to personal preference. I have a mixture of all 3 depending on the tool. I have a couple of DeWalt 18v XR drills that are excellent which I find are better than Bosch or Makita. However I find the Bosch blue 36v drill superior over the DeWalt and Makita. I like the Makita circular saws best.

i dunno where you have read that makita is not worth it but from my experience makita tools are fantastic and have THE BEST 18v power tool range of any brand and the one battery fits all, which allows you then to purchase body only tools once you already own the battery, making it cheaper to add additional tools to your collection. highly recommended from me

Thanks everyone, very interesting to read all the posts
The drill n0chex looks a great drill, but a bit above my budget and requirements. I just need a decent
quality drill driver for regular diy use.
I think having 2 batteries would be preferred .

I used to think the same, but Dewalt do make good professional tools. And these days its hard to judge a product based on a brand, I own Makita, Bosch, Miwaukee, Titan and even an aldi multiool and all are good.
Theres been slight jump now, in regards to batteries and brushless tools, so each brand are competing against each other. Just my 2 cents.

If you want a serious drill I would think of the below and look at the torque values.
Dewalt and makita are both the same, they both do budget diy drills which are ok, but if you want trade quality gear it will cost you

It's a brushless motor (supposedly more energy efficient) and comes with 2 x 3Ah batteries - the torque is similar between both drills so probably not a lot between them in use. If you want a decent drill with 2 batteries then the Makita is a good choice although you can get another battery for this DeWalt for about £50 -£60 so there's little between the two.
In all honesty if you're not yet using Makita tools then this DeWalt is a good choice, you can then buy other DeWalt tools (without a battery for cheap) and use the same battery and charger.
Personally I went for the DHP458 Makita which has a much higher torque of 88Nm and really is a hard worker if drilling into tought bricks and masonry. It is a bit heavy but an excellent powerful drill.

I don't know much about DeWalt brand but I've heard it's an American brand so should be high quality.Bosch is of course German brand and the blue range I keep hearing is top notch but the green range is for light work only.
I've heard from few builders that Makita is a Japanese brand and very reliable with long life they said it's the best in business.

We used Makita on a production line job were it was used 8 hours a day 5 days a week and never had a problem .
I have seen a DeWalt burn out but it was being used and abused as a torque gun , was only designed for screws not Nuts and bolts etc .
Personally I have a Bosch mainly because it was a good deal, They used to be the RR of Power tools but I think they are now below the Dewalt and Makita stuff .
All depends on what you need and the useage

I have Makita LXT drills, planer, impact driver all using 3Ah battery and they're excellent, like everything, they make cheaper tools that aren't great but do make some excellent tools.

Ooh, fighting talk! I suspect a lot of people will disagree with you on those points.
I have a Bosch blue multitool (because DeWalt didn't make one in 10.8V). Every time I unplug the charger with a battery in it it drains and eventually kills the battery. I've done that twice now and I'm not impressed.
Never used Makita but many people swear by them.

Bosch for serious diyers and professionals (blue range). DeWalt are great for budget and diyers with their primary selling point being the batteries work on all their hand tools. Can't comment on Makita but from what I've read they are not worth it.

That's subjective. I've had all three, all of which are decent quality. Depending on what deal is best.
I've always used Dewalt XRP range (3 speed and metal)
