I know that Destiny 2 is coming soon but I thought it was worth mentioning that the first one is available at this price.

Same downsides as a new copy, boredom. There's a trial on the PlayStation Store if you want to try it out.

Voted hot, I wanted to play it again after I tried the beta. I still have the codes until the taken king so why not?

I think this is a steal for £3. Sure not having all of the DLC is somewhat crippling the experience. But if you just want to try it and see if you like the online MP to get an idea what Destiny 2 will be about then sure this is worth the price.

I would just wait for 2, this will die off when 2 is launched

It died off month after release when everyone wondered why that had bought half a game

This is pointless to buy now even at this price.

Hi
is the destiny collection worth bothering with for those without PSN+ for solo offline play, or is it all about the MP stuff?
thanks

Pointless buying it tbh!! The game isn't worth a carrot without any of the Game add on's! Which there's a lot now!!

There's loads to do in the vanilla version, def check it out if you want to. I played loads of this, then bought the first DLC and never played it. It's a bit boring. It's one of those games that prides itself on not being linear, but the reality is you're stiff around going "what do I do?!". Meh

A bit of an issue with this is that certain content has been locked out with each new expansion.
If you only buy this (the base game) then you miss out on some features like changing weekly and daily activities or PVP playlists which are some of the most fun activities late game.
The base game will only allow you to play the original story content and a legacy PVP playlist which presumably wont be that busy.
I had destiny at launch and bought all the expansions up until the latest, but because I don't have the latest it feels like I can't do most of the fun stuff anymore.

There is a demo on PS store. It certainly looks nice, feels great and it is fun but just from demo it feels like one of those games that gets repetitive and bored of very quickly.

Yeah I saw that too - much of a muchness when it's so cheap - but if people have had no experience of destiny and then pick it up for 2 quid then at the very least it won't be a waste of money (might be difficult to get a raid team though)

Really not much point in buying a used copy, as there is so much you cant do unless you have the latest dlc, best off trying to pick up the destiny collection disc or hold out for digital version to go half price as it has been in the past, great game though and well worth the money, I've put hundreds of hours into it

I am tempted by this as I never played Destiny previously, but wanted to give it a shot since Destiny 2 is on the rardar and I liked the Beta. What are the downsides to a used copy though?

I think the quality of the packaging will be possibly questionable since its from Grainger games. This doesn't have any codes though so a used copy and a new one would have the same content.

This particular one: none.
A used copy of Destiny The Taken King or Destiny the Collection will contain the disk - which is the same for all edtitions - and DLC codes on paper - which will almost certainly have been used.
Not sure if the free (demo) version is still available to download but that's how I started. It caps your level but is enough to give you an intro to the game.
The Taken King DLC or The Collection contain a huge amount of content and the missions, strikes and raids are a bit more involving.
