The beta version of Destiny 2 is available for free download on PSN now. You get several features to try out and play. It's pretty good.
I think you need to have PS Plus, but that shouldn't really be a shock, given the online nature of Destiny.
I assume this is common knowledge, but I looked and didn't find a mentioning of it on here, so I thought I should post it to let you guys know. I think the download size was about 11gb.
Enjoy.

Destiny 2 is going onto Battlenet so it will have a massive amount more exposure to MMO players than the original did. The entire Blizzard community will get some kind of free access to it at some point.

Same as the first. Reasonably fun with friends but ultimately just a grind fest where you're left shooting the same enemies over and over again, and boss fights that simply involve the same enemies just with greatly increased health bars.

You only need PS+ for the Strike and PVP I believe

Voted hot because it's free gameplay but honestly, this lacks compared to the first game. No customisation in beta, 4v4 in PVP, the strike was a grind. It lacks stuff to do and after playing the strike twice and noticing all cooldowns of everything was reduced I stopped playing. If this is what Destiny 2 will end up like, I'll pass. I only ever played the original because of the Beta it had but never got DLC. I think I stopped playing just after they removed Peter Dinkledge from the game.

Thanks for that - I spotted it yesterday on the dashboard and left it downloading but didn't start it, not realising there was such a short time limit to it. Otherwise I would have got home to find it already ended! Atleast now I have a couple of nights to try it
No, you need playstation plus though. you dont need to pre order at all

Is it actually free to download i.e without purchasing the game? I couldn't find it as a free download. If i have understood correctly you have to buy the game and then its free download, is that right?

Just had a quick look on the PS4 and it says July 24th at 5am BST so it looks like 12 hours left (seems to match up with American time).

Tried this yesterday. Felt like destiny original, completed the main prologue and turned it off.
As I didn't get right into the original Destiny, I did quite enjoy the location the beta mission takes ya through (the main city).
But I don't think I'd buy this game going by the expansion costs off the original.

If you are on at 6pm you get to see the new social space called the farm for 1 hour (if the thing doesn't crash)

No clue, all we know is "today". How long that is doesn't seem to be communicated by Activision or Bungie (at least not that I could find).

Also expires later today, so you may not get much done.
