I own one of these, it's a great device. I have a Chromecast Audio and Amazon Echo plugged in to it. The Chromecast Audio is via a 3.5mm optical cable to TOSLink optical. So I'm covered for all the music I want to listen to. I have some Heybrook Helios speakers and to my 46 year old ears it sounds great.

WhatHifi says the much more expensive DM41 £279 (has digital inputs but loses the USB input) is well worth the extra money compared to DM40.

Worth the extra £100? Probably look into a cheap AV at this price if the size isn't so important and the CD player isn't needed. Much more functionality. Like the Denon X2300 for example.

I totally agree that denon avrx2300 is a much much better buy if pay £100 extra..actually a bit more than £100.. its about £300 but its worth the money for the features and "what hi-fi 5 star"review
