If you read the description, the emphasis for this case is on damping noise. Not every case needs to look like a mobile disco.

What are you talking about? Transparent panelling? Are you kidding? Not everyone is a 14 year old.

Anybody used this for a gaming PC? Is it okay? Seems like it could get super hot unless I remember to open the front/top panel every time I start playing.

For a "standard" gaming system with no overclocking it should be fine, from the reviews I've seen the channels for airflow allow sufficient air in to keep everything within acceptable levels. It's not setting any records for cooling performance, but that's the price you pay for having extensive sound dampening. For an overclocked system, or if you're just concerned about keeping case temps low in general I'd want something built with an emphasis on good thermals. You could always pair a case like that with low decibel fans from brands like Noctua and BeQuiet to keep noise levels down.

It's like walking back in time to 1997.
This is I suppose sightly better than a great deal on purple flared trousers but, seriously, if you're building even a quarter decent gaming PC, this case is not great - the lack of transparent panelling and accountancy firm aesthetics gives all the reasons needed why this is reduced for quick sale (and still overpriced).

How much of a performance improvement does transparent panelling provide to a gaming PC?

And if you insist, softwear is kinder to the skin with it's intrinsic softer form.

Exactly what i was thinking, about the only thing you could argue would be front panel usb 3.0, only problem being this case actualy has that.

How? All the inputs/outputs are on the motherboard I/O panel. All the case needs is a hole on the back to accommodate it. Front I/O panels are OK, but hardly essential.
What innovations do 2017 cases have that this one doesn't?

that's really not true, functionality changes, inputs change, it's a deal but not one I would buy for a new build

I still have a Tsunami Dream , not sure who made that ,about 10 yrs old and still looks fine .If I was looking for a new case I think for me the criteria would be total access to all fans for cleaning , no razor sharp metal edging and slot in drive bays ,also at the rear for all the ports and slots stronger supports and again less sharp ! Have blue lighting but mostly turned off as a distraction when gaming in the dark ! This case wouild not be a good upgrade for me but still voted hot as thanks to poster !

it's a 4 year old design case, PC's are meant to last a few years - this will get old quick (already is)
hot deal, poor choice to buy

It's a case, it's essentially a box with screw holes in it. Unless your needs completely change when you renovate your system, this will be as good in four years as it was four years ago.

Son wants a new build with a 1600X. The old case is looking a bit tired. I have ordered and just hope that the graphics cad fits as it is extremely tight in the current case.

Indeed - so I'm giving it my son as he has a horrid tsunami case which looked OK when I put a spare parts build in it for the wife (ten years ago maybe) and then reused it for his (again nearly five years ago) because she insisted it was still OK , also its wedged in betwwen his console cabinet and desk so can't even see inside even if it was lit up like a xmas tree.

Mid, it's a brilliant case, suited for air cooling over water-cooling though.

I have the 300R as well but I felt as though the metal work isn't as thick as I'd like, it can feel a bit lightweight at times. But agree it looks good and it's worth paying for a decent brand in that respect

I have about £1.5K of hardwear in a £20 case at the moment. Might just go for this.

Built a mate a PC a couple of years ago (just checked was nearly 5 years ago) with the 300R, great case, almost silent and still looks good today. Not sure if me or my boy is getting this one  Great price.
