Does anyone still use camcorders oO

It has a proper optical zoom (x30) - phones can't really handle that. Digital zooms result in quality loss (this has x57 with full zoom). In addition, a lot of phones do not have image stabilisation.

Not sure, they're still better than phone cameras but they're usually lacking compared to a good DSLR until you either 1) need to record footage for more than 15-30 minutes at a time or 2) can justify spending thousands on one of those shoulder-mounted ones for TV.
My LX100 certainly beats my smartphone but it has a way bigger sensor than most camcorders.

It's been selling on amazon for 4 months, yet not one single review. Very weird.

Ah true say, completely forgot about that!

Well, I'd recommend it, especially at 95 quid
Obviously way better than a phone as soon as you want to zoom in on anything, plus the optical image stabilization is really good. A single battery lasts a good 3+ hours of recording, and it's much easier to use than a DLSR for video (and a lot cheaper!), especially for one-handed use.

I guess you need the other hand to hold on to the branches of the tree, right? X)

agreed but for wanting to shoot your kids its far easier to pick this up than use a DSLR. Sure you could use your phone but then you have the other issues related to using a phone

I'd say that wanting to shoot your kids is probably the biggest issue there.
