Having owned 2 of these for the past half year to clarify some of the questions above:
BEFORE YOU BUY: For the love of Mary please, please check your WiFi upload speeds can handle this system otherwise you won't be getting the maximum (If any) use from the Canary!
Free 24 hours of retained recordings when movement is detected only (I.e. Unlike those familiar with the Nest Aware subscription, the Canary will not continuously record video for you to later view and scroll through. Recordings are made only when motion is detected by the camera)
This free 24 hours can be split between 4 devices maximum (E.g. If you have 1 Canary it'll be 24 hour retention of recorded clips, 2 Canary's you'll get 12 hours & etc.)
There is no limit to the number of recordings you can download & you can bookmark recordings to keep them permanently displayed in the app as long as you get to them within the time period before they're deleted
You can purchase 30 days of storage from Canary instead of the free 24 hours they provide but it's pricey and not worth it in my opinion, currently £12.99 for two devices per month [They will send you offers on occasion so hold out for these if you want extra storage)
This is not suitable to be pointed out of a window to view outside. As mentioned by another HUKD member the infrared LED's will reflect and dazzle the camera view
Whilst this home security system doesn't continuously record you can view live-feed wherever you are 24/7
You can manually turn the cameras off & on - Another user talks about leaving their home and waiting for their Canary to register this to begin looking for movement (This is called geofencing) but this is an optional feature.
Note when people refer to 12 hour recordings and maximum limits of downloading/bookmarking clips this has now changed to the above
I've bought myself 2 more and this deal deserves so much heat. Cheapest I've ever seen it was for £110 this New Years on Amazon. Thanks for letting us know OP! :innocent:

Was just reading the description, doesn't look like there are any fees?
"No contracts or required monthly fees.
Canary works right out of the box and includes 12 hours of free cloud storage without any contracts or required monthly fees. Optional Premium plans provide extended storage at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems."

I've got two of these, they really are good. Subscription fees only for the advanced service which keeps recordings longer than 24 hours (edit: other posts say 12 hrs, it's been enough time for me to review alerts and save them if I want)
I don't think it's needed, you can download any clips and save them / store them / email them etc.

You just said it, 12 hours free cloud storage, what do you think happens when this time depletes?

It is now 24 hours free storage. I have it. Works well. Does exactly what I need it to - alerts me if anything is in my house when I am not. I even get notifications with pictures on my Apple Watch (mostly of my cats wandering past the camera)

I’ve got one. These are the main problems I’ve experienced:
- we have two registered users. It only records movement if it thinks both of us are out of the house. Unfortunately it often doesn’t detect both of us have left the house so ignores any movement. This can often go on as long as 12 hours.
- it often loses connection (you receive a notification that it’s gone offline). This is despite it being directly connected to Ethernet (had same problem with Wi-fi) and no other devices experiencing the same connectivity issue
If you don’t pay the subscription then you can only view the last 24 hours of movement (provided registered users aren’t home). They often sent half price subscription offers, so if you want to pay for the 30 day history then wait for an offer email.

Well clearly it's going to overwrite....
I'm sure there are other ways to store video other then their cloud, why should they give you unlimited cloud for free, if you want more space, it's a choice not essential to using the product. So they are not lying there are no fees.

Also take a look at the cocoon which is also a prime day deal. Personally would go for this even though it’s a bit more expensive! Very cool tech in it too.

I have two. Yes 24 hrs storage is more than enough. You can bookmark videos so they don't get deleted too. You can also download before it gets deleted.
Yes BUT there are infrared LEDs at night which I am sure will reflect back on the window so the picture won't be any good. Really you need an outdoor camera.

Only if you're not in the house at the same time... You might want to read the description of what this actually is first.

Not recommended - the camera uses Infra Red to "see" at night, this just reflects off the glass, or shiny objects, or something like white paper if stood too close to it (eg, we get "glare" from a kitchen roll if it's been left stood on it's end alongside the camera). They make a different waterproof camera for outdoors.

This thing is brilliant, gives you peace of mind when away from home. Works well if you have a house alarm that doesn't come with a cam.
Wait a while after buying and canary will offer hall price year which I snapped up £39 for the year 356 recording videos held for 30 days.

Bought a couple. Ideally there would be a hack/jailbreak to add other cloud providers. I'll be trying to automatically download the videos each day on my pc. I hope this will be straight forward maybe VBscript running from windows scheduler.

A little info....
I have a different camera which records to SIM card. These cameras are pretty good and with this one it records to a cloud service which is better. In my case if somebody was to steal my camera I would not be able to access the sim, I have been thinking of getting a dvr to record everything.
Probably obvious info tosome but maybe not all.

No it can record all the time. You can tell it though to only record when you're away or at night time. I leave mine recording all the time. The only thing I tell it do when were all out is to send me notifications of movement.

So... if you're away on holiday and say you're away from data for a day, if you get an alert for an event that happened more than 24 hours ago you can't check what it was? Doesn't sound good... I'd recommend Hikvision hooked up to Synology for people who are tech-savvy, but Canary (and similar stuff) is clearly good for general users.
