If you don't have one of these buy it now. Its very versatile, mine is used several times a week, its not one of those gadgets that gets forgotten about at the back of the cupboard. £16.99 is a steal.

Have to agree, so many kitchen gadgets that I've bought have ended up being a fad but this one gets used nearly everyday in some way

You can cook chicken on it if it's boneless and butterflied extra thinly. It's not bad for bacon and burgers.

Judging by the images on Amazon, this is a small, one sandwich press. Voted hot because all we ever use our Tefal Optigrill for is toasted sandwiches and it cost twice as much, although it can cook two at a time :wink:

On no, not another kitchen gadget that I don't need but can't live without.
I've got a sandwich toaster, George Foreman, halogen oven, digital pressure cooker, slow cooker, steamer, rice cooker and goodness knows how many blenders, choppers and juicers.
I'm still more enthusiastic than capable cook. Do I need this?

Yes you can but anything that creates fat/juices will end up on the top plate, then open the press and it will just run all over the back of the hinges/cable/worktop, poor design, see the opened photo.
That said, anything dry it does a treat.

I managed to get this for £10 @ Amazon Warehouse about 2 months ago.
Buy it. This works great for ciabattas, paninis and toasting sandwiches and is nice and compact.

hi, do you just put the slices of thin (?) aubergines and press them down (without adding any oil, salt etc) then toast the bread to make a sandwich? Really want to try something like that (just buy one now after seeing this deal).

Some reviews mention burning or breaking after a few months... http confused ****/2ufskGc, although most others seem to be positive. Anybody had experiences with it before I buy?

I haven't actually done aubergine sandwiches, I must admit. But what I have done is slice them width ways, about 1cm thick as evenly as i can, then just place directly on hotplate and close, doesn't need oil. Doesn't take them long before they are cooked and soft. I then cook these in melanzane alla parmigiana type recipes.
