There is a good point in there. I could just empty it more often. We have a separate basket for paper and ikea cream bin thingie for plastic/glass. I'd say I need to step up my game on the can front and biodegradables

I'm afraid my son(who is responsible for emptying the bin) has chucked away the paper sleeve so I don't know what they are called. They are just their cheap as chips ones and they cost 99p a roll. I'm sure there are either 50 or 100 on a roll and they fit my brabantia perfectly. Never had one rip yet, would certainly recommend them

Hey, I'm not judging you or anyone. The UK is so behind on recycling - and I have worked in the waste an recycling sector. If you knew what went on you really would start to think what is the point? But until you have been on a landfill site you wouldn't know. 15 years later housing estates are built on them haha!

We are lucky enough to have communal bins for rubbish and recycling. Recycling includes card, proper paper, some plastics like milk bottles and yogurt pots, glass from drinks bottles and things along those lines.

Unfortunately most of the residents are too lazy to empty their plastic bags into the recycling and walk 3 metres to the bin even though it is very clear plastic bags aren't recyclable!

We try out best but definitely don't waste water washing recyclable bits out and nor should you!

He's a good kid really. Drives me to distraction most of the time but at least he doesn't sit in his bedroom all day playing video games.

I hate people who are too lazy to recycle. It just isn't that hard. The three of us managed to just about cover the bottom of the bin in our last house whereas my neighbour's family of four filled two bins a week. Got one of these in our kitchen.

So cool it makes recycling fun. Naturally I didn't pay that, got it out of the clearance pile in tkmaxx.

Luckily we only have two bins one for general waste and a recyling one. But friends locally with different councils have a recycling, food, general and garden bins.

Not sure it's in that article but apparently there is only one plastic bottle recycling facility in the whole of the UK. And other countries in Europe pay you to recycle.

I've also heard that black plastic trays that are widely used in ready meals have to be picked out by hand at recycling plants.

I'm no eco warrior Swampy but being too lazy to empty plastic bags and walk the 3 metres to the bin does get my goat! No matter what decent people do there will always be **** who chuck their rubbish out of cars or drop their takeaway packaging on the street.

Maybe in the next 100 years we will catch up with decency in this country.
