Surely this is a piece of cheap wood and 2 brackets? Not sure I'd particularly call it a deal at just under a fiver.

Thats the whole point of not putting them up herself, she had a bloke in to do it for her..
He said they were pretty crap and couldn't see em lasting very long, he was right they started sagging from the inside of the shelf mount not the wall fittings!

Just need good fixings into a solid wall

Problems with these 'falling off the wall' will be from using the supplied screws & wall fittings. They'll hold plenty weight with some normal brackets underneath (_

Defeats the object of a floating shelf somewhat!!!!

Sister bought some of these and she put a couple a books on them and they fell off
Don't buy if you actually want to use these as a shelf for putting things on, they are really just for show!

Did the shelves break? Could it not be an issue with fixing/wall if not?

My girlfriend had two of these on her wall and they couldn't take the weight of a few books. over time the shelves sagged and eventually fell off. They were installed by a pro who did warn us these were crap.

Thanks OP. Argos website shows in stock but does not. update to how many. I reserved 4, and email confirmed 2 available now and two next week.
When I get the shelves I am prepared to upgrade the fixings/bolts into the wall and the rawplug. Alot depends on what type of wall you have as to which fixings hold best.
As far as I am aware, most floating shelves are hollow, which makes sense to save weight.
They only hold v light things tbh
I've 1 above my bed EMPTY as the fittings are bent inside from falling down
Just gent it bavk up n it'll look better up empty than 2 holes

Good bargain if they do what they're supposed to do. I'm not going to risk those shelves above my twin monitors.

I picked mine up the day. I was shocked at how light weight the shelves are. They seem to be hollow inside.

Mmm...maybe more to do with the "handy man" than the actual shelf? I have 2 of these in my wee lassie's room, stacked with c**p and in fact, she has her play station on one of them, and no probs at all. As far as i remember, there is a weight limit on the packaging.

Dunno I didn't put them up, she had a handy man in to put them up..
Next time I went round there, she said they were useless and wouldn't hold more than a book or a small vase, anything remotely heavy like books and stuff made them just fall off the wall, she said waste of space and binned em!
