Hardly anyone ever leaves Des Moines, Iowa. But Bill Bryson did, and after 10 years in England he decided to go home, to a foreign country. In an ageing Chevrolet Chevette, he drove nearly 14,000 miles through 38 states to compile this hilarious and perceptive state-of-the-nation report on small-town America. From the Deep South to the Wild West, from Elvis' birthplace through to Custer's Last Stand, Bryson visits places he renamed Dullard, Coma, and Doldrum (so the residents don't sue or come after him with baseball bats). But his hopes of finding the American dream end in a nightmare of greed, ignorance, and pollution. This is a wickedly witty and savagely funny assessment of a country lost to itself, and to him.
Bill Bryson is always worth a listen, at this price it's cheaper than a bag of fried potatoes (at least at the last chip shop I went into in Cornwall)

FWIW I have been an audible subscriber for five years. Over that time I have had to talk to customer services many times. In my experience they are, always helpful, professional and will do everything they can to make you happy. It's one of the few places I shop where I know I don't have to worry.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience but mine has been completely the opposite.

Be careful with this & check what you are charged!
They took £19.69 from my card although the cart stated £1.99........It took a while to get it refunded to my card as they kept trying to get me to accept a credit note....REFUSE POINT BLANK if they try with you & tell them it's not open to discussion & you want the money placed back on the card you paid with.

Once you pay, the audio book is linked to your Amazon account so the book is streamed to the Echo via WiFi.

Once you have started it in the app once so it knows what you want it's easy to just say alexia play my audio book... Play stop pause works volume too. Or can say alexia play lost continent

Can't beat a good Bill Bryson book, only recently enjoyed my way through "A Walk In the Woods" and was contemplating "Notes from a big country" but I'll take this one first.
