It's not a bad deal but remember that this version of the watch is not waterproof!
Only version 2 is.
misterleoni to silveroracle
11 Jul 17#8
It is water resistant, just not waterproof. I used my Series 0 in the shower sometimes and never had any issues. I think the key to the Series 2 is that it is more resistant to submerging than the Series 1 - so better at tackling large volumes of water and currents. Good if you're a swimmer.

I was going to buy one but dont fancy a wifi device strapped to my wrist 24:7
Just spoke to some apple owner friends and they all say its a novelty which has worn off  so im glad its out of stock. Stops me buying something on the whim
misterleoni
11 Jul 17#22
It'll definitely save your wrist from perishing and rotting off from the wifi too so it's win-win
If you do decide to have one though won't some of your Apple owner friends be willing to sell theirs for even less? One of the advantages to people not liking something is that they will usually sell them on for a decent price!

Haha I do have one reserved there but I didn't have time to go in the end. Bit of a pain as I'd have to get the train.

Well the more the advert and people buy the better for Mods I guess
Great deal. Owned my stainless steel 42mm series 0 since it was released, great watch and wrist gadget. Apart from the obvious tasks of telling time and reading and replying to messages etc, it gets most of its use for fitness reasons from me. And, despite the advice to not submerge it in water, my apple watch has never been shy of getting wet or being submerged in water... works fine. Just an Apple disclaimer to protect them.

I wish they would get some fashion designers on board to make beautiful smart watches for women. I so want a smart watch but they are so ugly to wear. They are a century away from looking beautiful on a woman's wrist. I am not going to live long enough to see them get to this stage :disappointed:

Reminds me when I met some kid in town and he sold me one for £40 quid as he needed money for train to back home. 5 minutes later I realised that it is locked to his father account so was useless to me. I then tried to find the guy and eventually did... He was at the local take away spending my £40  turned out he was local and never needed the money for a train.
Anyway, I later googled the very same watch and it had some fancy bracelet that was worth around £500 :disappointed:
Long story short, if you have a kid you better keep them locked up.

Errrrr......moral of the story is:
a) don't give kids (you don't know) money, it makes you look like a safeguarding case.
b) don't buy anything off anyone in a town centre as if its too good to be true, its nicked.
c) this wasn't a kid, if he can spend your £40 in s take away, he must have bern a 40 stone grown man!

I think they look like a kid's watch, something out of disney world. i have to give up this so i want something on the same level of attractiveness, but obviously i realise the digital watch can't look the same but i want to it to look beautiful. there must be a way.

15 Jul 17#48
don't waste your time,I sent 2 price match requests when the deal was on, they waited until the next day when the Currys offer was expired and responded back refusing price match saying Currys are selling it for £299 but they sell it for £280.
They only price match if the price is lower at the time they process your request not when you sent the request.
kiish
15 Jul 17#49
Actually they price matched and I have ordered. (1) They took over 24h to reply so had to honour deal (2) Rep replied telling me about some **** about iPhone sims (????) not being unlocked with curry so I complained on twitter as that reply made no sense and manager approved the price match.

So are you talking about Apple Watch price match related to this deal or another price match for an iPhone deal?

Yes Apple Watch. The JL rep replied back talking about iPhone for whatever reason.

They initially refused my price match too. They took over 24 hours to reply (I mentioned if they hadn't they would have seen this price) so I sent them a link to pricespy showing proof of the lower price and they accepted.

15 Jul 17#53
do you have that price spy link?
when I go to price spy it shows the current price of curry not the discounted one,I want to send it to JL because same thing happened to me!
also who should I contact in JL? any customer service person?
Screenshot and highlight the price change, for example:
You shouldn't need to contact a specific person. It probably depends when you sent your price match request.

A update my watch arrived today after getting a dispatch notice friday, so ame in the end. Not a bad bit of kit, think it will be my work day watch and keep a mechanical watch for the evening and weekends. Still can't beat the look and styling of a nice 'normal' watch imho
Tequila
19 Jul 17#57
t's true, however a "nice" normal watch starts at £500 minimum imo and the stuff from Citizen, etc are just cheap and ugly.also fed up with these oversized chunky watches with chronographs everyone are making at the moment.for this reason I think the Apple Watch at least has it's own class and style..(functionality aside)
