Acer Z35p at 899.99! This is for the latest model (UM.CZ1EE.P01) not the cheaper Z35 (UM.CZ0EE.001). I ordered this unit directly from Acer at £1056 inc delivery. It arrived damaged and was returned only to discover they had no more units left to send as a replacement. I went searching yesterday and found Argos had it for £999.99 which i though was great and ordered it! I checked today and there is another £100 off as well as a £10 voucher. (After contacting Argos, they honored the lower price) If you are in the market for this monitor, this IS the best price around. - Currently £1109 via amazon.

Not 4K.
Looks like an updated version of the already impressive X34a.

would be nice, but sadly can't have it all! - Once HDR becomes the standard in games I'm sure there will be many more monitors with the tech!

Aargh been waiting for something like this but dreading it, It's a lot but I've invested in the gaming rig, currently running on a 10 year old Dell so I've got no choice really have I... It's a great price for a newly released monitor of this spec. Convincing myself to hit the buy button...
Cheers/damn you OP

Is there a reason why these g sync monitors can not use freeaync aswell
Bullethawk to RedRain
27 Jul 17#14
I'd say it would be a fortune to include both types of hardware in the same monitor

Not really. Nvidia thinks their own gsync tech is superior and makes sure you need a geforce to use them, and therefore they have not implemented the free adaptive sync protocols.
I don't think there's any good technical reason they couldn't support adaptive sync too :disappointed:

Cost.
It's a ridiculous situation at the moment.
Wait until 2 of them wins or they both come to a compromise

This is 21:9 not 16:9 like the x34 - aspect ratios will be completely wrong for gaming.
The x34 is a better monitor for this price

As a gamer myself the 21:9 aspect ratio is actually beneficial :-) - wider viewing angles to seem em coming - so long as the game supports it!

All ultrawide monitors are 21:9 aspect ratio, including the X34.

It's a freaking ultrawide, it's always going to be 21:9. That's the point. Ultra - wide. Ultrawide. Seriously.
How the hell would you get a 16:9 ultrawide? That'd be standard width.

I'm typing this using a XR34 16:9, which I found much better for gaming than a 21:9 monitor

Just googled the XR34 and its showing as a 21:9 Ultrawide monitor

I'd say using a '21:10' ratio monitor would look quite odd :-)

Argos just rang to say order cancelled. Saying they are recalling stock due to flickering issue. Sounds ominous
