From Monday if you've got the Lite account, you can get 5% back when you spend on your Santander debit card using the mobile apps. The offer will run for both new and existing customers until 30 September.
You can earn cashback on any mobile purchases using Apple, Android or Samsung Pay made in-store, in-app or online on your phone when you pay using your Santander debit card.
There's no cap on the amount of cashback you can earn during the offer period.

Could I not just go to a store ask for cashback and keep tapping my phone and getting cashback the getting the 5% aswell

I have the normal 123 account and didn't know about this Lite account. I pay £5 a month to use my account and after getting money back for my utilities, only make a profit of around £1.80 a month. I haven't looked into the percentages for money back on utilities yet, but if it is the same, I might see if I can change over to the Lite account.

So what's stopping someone getting a chip and pin reader and paying yourself 10k and get 5% back ?

Had a read through mse and santander website. Can anyone see why if you have the full 123 account it wouldn't be worth downgrading until october? (Aside from loss of 1.5% interest. Buts it's 4 quid cheaper as well)
