They were £6.75 in my local today

That is probably it.
There were black spots going through the entire potato, so they could not be used.

These are £6.75 on Morrisons website. This doesn't seem to be National, perhaps an individual store clearance. What are the start / finish dates of this offer and where was the photo taken OP?

Not sure where they get £6.75 from, I've been buying these for over 4 years and never paid more than £3, in fact last summer and the one before they were regularly £2 a bag
Peel, slice, blanch and freeze. Massive saving over buying a 2kg bag every few days.
I keep trying to explain this to friends who complain about never having money, yet they buy frozen chips for £1.99...

it's a wonder anyone even grows potatoes anymore at these prices lol although will they stay at these prices with brexit :O although mine will stay fresher for longer, partially because i haven't even harvested them yet but that's beside the point lol.

Exactly maccy. The last time someone was ranting to me about blah blah, healthy food expensive, finishing with ' I mean, name me one healthy meal that is cheap', I snapped back ' Jacket potato'. Game over

Must be better than the Maris Pipers I bought from Aldi today, the whole bag was full of blight.

Have a look at number 17 here
I suspect it's black spot you're seeing and not blight. Your unlikely to see blight in stored spuds especially at this time of year. It looks like they're getting to the bottom of the storage now, so black spot's more common due to the long period buried under a spud mountain.

Bag is too heavy for us, as Morrisons is now 3 miles away instead of half a mile. So no potatoes for us... YAY! :sunglasses: (highfive)
(great offer tho... but I'm not a potato fan. Voted hot as it's a deal tho)
