Received mine within 20 days no customs charge , ordered mine through banggood standard delivery and tracking worked up to arrival in England once royal mail got hold of it it became a guessing game. I will say I've ordered several things from gearbest and the tracking system was as good as useless, no updates and suddenly arrives but I've waited up to 35 days from them. That's why I gave banggood a try.

One person asked if this would get hit with customs, and others replied with their previous experiences on the matter. How exactly does that make them hypocrites if "some people complain about lack of border control"?. Can you link example comments of the person who asked about customs, complaining about lack of border control or are you just randomly connecting mixed views from different people on different topics and coming to the conclusion that they are hypocrites?

5 Jun 172#48
Apart from the interesting Multi-SIM/Micro-SD Card combination ...
The OP's Deal is the better Phone, in a few ways, newer Hardware, Band 20/LTE Support, etc, etc? (the Doogee X5 Pro Phone is 4G-Enabled too, but has a lack of any notable Band 20/LTE capabilities anyway).
The OP's Deal is a bit more expensive than that of the Doogee X5 Pro is yes, but the OP's Phone Deal is a wee bit more robust/sophisticated than that of the Doogee X5 Pro Phone.
So depends purely on your needs/interpretation as to if that's worthy of the small money 'extra', or whatever ..... :-)
Knock yourself out, lol.
dreadzone101
5 Jun 17#49
That's probably due to Doogee X5 having a removable back cover and battery. Before Xiaomi started making unibody Redmi phones, the Redmi 2 and Redmi Note 2 also had a removable back cover and battery design and were dual sim with separate dedicated micro SD slot. I assume it's easier to position and make room for dedicated slots in this setup due to more freedom since wherever they're positioned, they can still be accessed by removing the back cover. However in unibody phones it's restricted to needing to be positioned along the edge. Dual SIM unibody phones with dedicated micro SD slots such as Honor 5X and Samsung A9 achieve that by having 2 ejectable trays which is very uncommon compared to a single combi-slot tray.

So because people in the country have a certain attitude towards border control, it automatically means that anyone else who speaks about customs are hypocrites regardless of what their attitude towards that topic is? The entire population doesn't have the same set of views but the person has taken one generalised view towards a certain topic and linked it with another view towards a different topic. They're calling people hypocrites because of it, when they cannot determine that the people who complain about border control are the same people who would hope to avoid customs so how exactly are they hypocrites?

help needed for someone in the know - this or the note 4?
It just depends on the user. They're from different Xiaomi ranges though. The 4A is from the 5" Redmi line which all have 720p screens except for the Redmi 4 Pro. The Redmi Note line has 5.5" 1080p screens. The Redmi 4A is however, the lowest specced current Xiaomi phone. Some key differences compared to Note 4 apart from screen: No fingerprint reader, smaller battery, weaker processor, polycarbonate (plastic) body. If 5" form factor is preferable, then the Global Version Redmi 4X for around £100 could be an alternative as it's better specced than the 4A. Comparison of the 3 here<< Redmi Note 4 Global Version has the best "bang for buck" but not everyone would like the larger size.
LogicalHarm
6 Jun 17#81
thank you, that is an exceptional answer. thank you for your time!

6 Jun 17#82
I have more more question (sorry I know you're not a salesman!) - does the difference in display spec make a difference much? One is 720 x 1280 pixels (~296 ppi pixel density), the other is 1080 x 1920 pixels (~401 ppi pixel density). I'm not particularly bothered about the difference in other features but if this will affect the quality of usage heavily, then will sway me. thanks again for all your help!
dreadzone101
6 Jun 17#83
On paper it sounds like it'd be a fair difference but in real everyday usage once you get accustomed to the device I doubt you'd notice unless you were constantly switching back and forth between the 2 different kinds of displays. Here's a comparison video of 4A vs Note 4<< and also a comparison video of Redmi 4A, 4X, 4 Pro<<. The 1st and 2nd are 720p. The 3rd is the 4 Pro, the only 5" Redmi with 1080p screen. In both videos the differences in pixel density of the screens isn't noticeable but then again there's only so much you be able to tell from a video.
5" 720p resolution phones are quite common though so if you visited a local phone shop, you should be able to get an idea of how the screen would look. For example Carphone Warehouse would probably have Sony Xperia XA and E5 on display which have 5" 720p screens.

It wasn't a good post at all, it's nonsensical.
UK Border Force enforce movement of people into the country.
HMRC Customs enforce taxation of packages/products entering the country.
They are two completely separate organisations, & have been for a very, very long time now.
soldierboy001
6 Jun 17#86
They may be 2 different enforcement departments but if you read the original statement it did mention both and was factual that people complain about people being let in and also complain when they have to pay the correct duty on imports, so go have another think.
dreadzone101
6 Jun 17#87
There are people who complain about border control, and also people who complain about customs but that does not mean the people who speak of customs are hypocrites. As I pointed out in my initial reply, one person had asked about customs and others had replied with their experiences. Nobody was complaining about having to pay customs. The person who asked about customs could be interpreted as being someone who hopes to avoid them. However there are no previous comments to suggest that they are also a person who complains about border control. Yet the other person who linked border control views with customs, used the term "hypocrite". So either it was a separate random comment, unrelated to the fact people were discussing customs, or it was aimed at them which makes the "hypocrite" term, unjustified.

Just got phone yesterday and had a quick play but was waiting for glass screen protector which I thought would take ages but it came today so just fitted it and connected it to wifi. First impressions are really nice, feels and looks like a premium phone, which I haven't had for a while. I thought I would want to put a custom rom on it to get it nearer stock android but liking all the features of MIUI I don't think I will bother, I'm so used to crappy translations with Chinese products but this seems like they put the effort in the UI. It's downloading a system update at the moment so not doing much with it atm. I ordered a Redmi Note 4 a few days after ordering this so looking forward to that too. I never really bothered using my phone much but think I might use this one a bit more.
No customs charges to pay, I think it was in a cardboard box (normally just have plastic bag with foam padding) and they put mobile phone x2 and $10 each so total $20, I don't know why they put mobile phone x2 as I only ordered one!
The case was making air bubbles on the edges but if you hold down the edge and put the case over the glass protector its fine.
