I didn't actually realise that Philips had collaborated with Xiaomi to produce products! Seems like a bit of a dream team as far as this type of product is concerned. You'll need to use Code XPBulbs to get the price down.
Brightness ect... can be controlled via the Xiaomi app I think it's the same app they use for the Yeelight? If so then...

I am thinking of buying Amazon Echo or Google Home. I already got 2 of these bulbs. Would anyone know if these would work in both or at least in the near future are likely to work? From what I am reading here it seems like they work on the Echo but not on Google home? Thanks

yup - flip on/off switch 5 times, 2 seconds on, 2 seconds off each time. Bulb will then colour cycle indicating it's reset (well the colour one cycles that is.....not sure what the white one does to indicate - prob cycle intensity)

I'd say so yes - reset bulbs first so starting from a clean slate - then try resetting hub, keep it switched off a couple of mins til confirm wifi is working again on your phone or whatever. Hopefully that's all it is

1) Switch the bulb on and leave it on for at least 5 seconds. Maybe a few more for good measure. 2) Flick the switch off and watch the bulb go off and then switch it on and watch it turn on (almost no waiting between switching) 3) Repeat step 2 at least 5 times 4) After ending on an on you will (hopefully) notice the bulb flicker 5 times. It has been reset.

I just can't get this one to reset! I've only managed to get the Yeelight colour changing bulb working with Echo, as I've had to change the location to Singapore. But now the MiHome app won't recognise this white bulb. Any help to get this reset would be much appreciated!
If this one only works with the location set to China, I don't think I'll be able to get either bulb working through the Echo.

App not working? Help is here!
Just thought I'd add this message for anyone unable to get their bulb to work via the app so hopefully it might save someone else the 3 hours it's taken me to solve this problem.
When you create your MI account and sign in on the app, select your location by tapping the flag next to where you enter your email address and select your location as Mainland China. For some reason the app won't connect to the bulb if you select your actual location or the recommended location.

Can't work out whether you're trying to be clever or it's just an ignorant answer. It's a valid question as Echo's can controls Xiaomi Yeelights. If it controls these too it'll be worth purchasing. If they don't it would seem pointless picking your phone up, opening up an app and pressing a button to switch a light on.

Download 'Mi Home', create an account/login and go to profile, settings, locale, and choose mainland China. you'll then be prompted to login again. click the plus sign on the top right and add device. mine didn't pick the bulb up automatically but go to 'add manually' and you should see the phillips bulb in the list. to be honest it took a few goes but eventually it found it and then it asked me for my WiFi code to pair it up to my phone. if it won't work turn the bulb off at the mains for 2 seconds, then turn it baxk on for 2 seconds and do this 5 times. the bulb with then start flashing. when it stops, try and search for it again.

Thanks. Was ready to send mine back until I read that the locale needs to be set to China (I had mine set to US).
Not sure I really rate these. I bought them to work with my Amazon Echo but it says they're not compatible. They're 6.5W but aren't as bright as my 4W Lumilife LEDs from Led Hut. My main concern however, was how hot they got even after 10 minutes. They may say Philips on the box but I wouldn't be suprised if it's all cheap Chinese parts inside with a lack of adequate heatsink.

HA-Bridge is here : github.com/bws…dge To use it with the bulbs, enable developer mode on the bulbs in the app.. and then set them up in HA-Bridge as a TCP Device with the following for on, off and dim
On : tcp://192.168.2.211:55443/{\"id\": 1, \"method\":\"set_power\", \"params\":[\"on\"]}\r\n Off : tcp://192.168.2.211:55443/{\"id\": 1, \"method\":\"set_power\", \"params\":[\"off\"]}\r\n Dim : tcp://192.168.2.211:55443/{\"id\": 1, \"method\":\"set_bright\", \"params\":[\${intensity.percent}, \"smooth\", 500\]}\r\n
HA-Bridge is a Hue emulator.. so you can pretty much turn anything in to something that Alexa sees as a Hue / Lifx bulb.. no stupid trigger words etc like with IFTTT

24 Jun 17#53
I doubt it.
I have Hue lights myself, however there is a reason majority of things are kept simple. A switch, a solid wire from device to switch. This is a basic premise, one that's super simple to fault find and train some numpty to fix.
This is why decades later we still use such basic things for basic tasks. While it's not needed as such people want, and will insist, on a lighting system that can be left off/ignored for 5 years yet simply work upon trying it.

I am using it with the Mi Home App. For locale, I selected Mainland China (I tried with USA and Hong Kong but it never worked). Then just navigate around the app to add a device. Make sure your WiFi is connected to the bulb (bulb must be on). Then it should be simple from there. Use a shortcut on homescreen for convenience.

For anyone following my previous comments and having issues with Alexa and any smart lights, apparentle Alexa did a backend update last week. Most skils are fine, but some lost their "connection" to the relevant skils account. So i had to disable the alexa skil and re-enable it and sign back into my Xioami account. All working perfect again now. So for anyone having issues, try that.

I agree with the sentiment, but this is clearly the future. Putting the cable to the light switch under the plaster is a laborious and expensive process, and even a Philips Hue light is much cheaper. So new houses will increasingly have smart lights, purely for cost reasons, and eventually the system will just work.

Just tried the Xiaomi forums and a lot of people having the same problem. I got a popup a few days ago about an update to the Mi Home app (i use that for the Xiaomi IP cam i have to check the dog hasnt eaten my kitchen while im out) and i presume the update to that app has done something to the Yeelight connectivity. People on the forums said to disable the skil within Alexa and the re-enable it. That should fix it. So ive done that now, and will try when i get home later. But prior to today, i have tried the 6 times on/off trick, ive unpaired the bulbs and repaid to the yeelight app. Ive tried firmware updates etc and all fine. Hope this works.
