I only need half a roll for my window box.
Anyone want to split the cost?

They were free in Homebase Formby..... people complained about the quality and were given free bedding plants as compensation... madness... but be aware that quality may not be top notch... Then again... if you want top notch... pay for it!!

The rolls are reduced in price because they will be unlikely to flourish when laid. This is common practice and in all likelihood in a few weeks time you will have a lawn of dead turf. :disappointed:

They often reduce "old" stock to £1 when going yellow. I put down 14 £1 turfs all of them are now nice and green and growing well.

I've bought rolls of turf from homebase when it was bright yellow.. Lay it, keep watering it and it'll grow fine.

Phoned Blyth, none in stock.
They didn't say the price, any idea when these are normally reduced. As we've two largest areas to do

I remember someone saying before, about 5-6 days after they actually get delivered to the store, if there's any left they have to reduce them because of quality.

Hot deal though after switching to artificial grass I would never switch back.

Just a warning, when they reduce the turf from £4 to £1 (or sometimes, lower) it is because it is has sat there too long, might be mouldy due to the heat etc i.e. it is past it's best.
With the right care it might still work for some people, but it won't be for everyone.

Turf rolls were being given away for free in Newmarket Homebase yesterday. Not sure if there are any left now though. The turf looked pretty ropey!

OMG great price if you can get any at that price. Always get charged £4 a roll at southport Homebase. Need my back garden doing, so if I could get some at £1 a roll it would only cost about £250 then.

Wow, so it would cost you around £1000 to turf all your garden. My last house had a huge garden and it was awful when I moved in. I rotavated (bad spelling I know) and then laid my own grass seed. It is time consuming but hell of lot cheaper.

My local store has these in, they were either dead or yellow and mushy.

This 'deal' comes up every year.
This is pretty standard at any Homebase, B&Q etc. if you turn up anytime from Monday onwards it'll be reduced, it'll get cheaper (and more yellow) as the week goes one before the finally start giving it away around Wednesday or Thursday.
They just want it gone before their new batch arrives on Thursday or Friday ready for the weekend to be sold at full price.
You won't find it for £1 come the weekend!

No, they where from a local turf supplier.

I just re-did my garden, brought from a turf supplier who delivers free to any CO postcode (Colchester and surrounding areas) works out about £2.50 per metre squared.
Not sure if I can link them here so I won't unless asked, but if you are from the area and looking for turf a quick google should show you who they are.
They can also deliver bulk bag top-soil decorative aggregates etc too, all for very reasonable prices.
