The world is huge and beautifully detailed and the game has very high production values. But the gameplay is dull. Walk to waypoint, listen to badly acted cutscene, follow red trail, go back to person for another cutscene. Rinse and repeat for 100 hours.

1 Jun 17#70
Great game obviously, I was a massive fan of TW2. But this game for me personally didn't quite live up to expectations or the sort of 'perfect game' reviews it got. Don't get me wrong, the game is freaking huge, the story and side quests are generally very well written, as are the characters, and the lore is fantastic. Basically it's the Game of Thrones type game that the actual Game of Thrones RPG (although it wasn't bad at all) deserved to be.
However, the horrible clunky controls take away a lot of enjoyment out of the game. I think I almost missed having companions/friendships too, though I don't knock the game for this as Geralt was very much a person who wanted to slay alone for the majority.
That said, if you haven't played this game then for £15 you're on to an absolute winner!

I tried it again last night (played it last year for 40mins and gave up). The game has interesting moments so far, but controls feel flaky.
I had this side mission where o had to chase a guy on a horse. I failed it first time around due to my guy running passed my horse countless times and not mounting it.
Same trouble with examining things on the ground. Sometimes it does it right away and most times the X button disappears.
I wish the cast spell button read the input and wasn't a sensitive input (slight press vs heavy press). My r2 button doesn't do well with reading heavy press, so I have to really squeeze the trigger to get it to work.
Will try the game again tonight. But feel I may just flog it off to cex for £14 cash and lose out a quid.

Sorry for the confusion, basically a few of us have had discussions on previous threads about when we've bought games as new, we expect them factory sealed and not with a security sticker. It's still a good price but I prefer my games with the cellophane on them, but that's just me!
AppStar
2 Jun 171#90
New should be brand spanking new! There's absolutely no reason for them to take the cellophane off and put some dumb security tag on.
It reminds me of the days of Virgin Megastore in Central London where I went to buy Resident Evil Code Veronica - brand new - but then found out that they'd taken it out of the case and put the disc in a drawer. I bought it anyways as it was on sale but then I decided to check the disc before leaving the gaming dept and it had a ton of scratches so I got a refund ASAP. Hate it when they say new and it isn't.

I managed to get a copy of each from Asda recently thanks to this thread about their toxic sale and promptly traded the Xbox version in for £13 at Game and the PS4 version for £20 credit at CEX.
I'd recently bought a PS4 but after doing a bit of research, didn't think I'd ever make the time to play it and even if I did, wasn't sure it would be my cup of tea. Guess I should have tried to sell them on here first by how hot this thread has got.
So... don't suppose anyone is interested in Life Is Strange Collector's Edition for Xbox One as I've still not got round to trading that in as they're not giving any more for it being brand new, still sealed and a Collector's Edition

LOL cheers for the info.
Just so you know, I didn't go to Asda with the intention of "profiteering", but having got up stupid early to go and check it out, figured it was silly not to pick up a couple of bargains. If I could have sold them on to someone else at what I'd paid and been sure they wouldn't just trade them in, I'd have happily done so, but having already wasted more than enough time, I figured I'd cover my costs at GAME's expense, bank some free credit at CEX for my old-school button Nokia fetish and only make a gain at a couple of companies' expense, rather than any indiviudal's. Also knowing that at some point, some lucky person (or two) is going to buy what they think is a pre-owned copy of the game and get a brand spanking new, untouched one (well, two).
Do feel a little bad as since realised CEX is a franchise, but I do use the specific store in question quite a bit and as I went for credit rather than cash, they will be getting it all back. Unless I ruin or mis-place the receipts before I do as I have done before!
Anyway, joke is still partly on me as having just started playing the Marvel Heroes Omega BETA, it turns out that I might have actually enjoyed the RPG thing after all!
