Still doesn't justify the price. Personally I don't want to resell games to make them affordable.

sounds like they take payment upfront for this item?
WHEN WILL PAYMENT BE TAKEN FOR MY PRE-ORDER?
We understand that not paying for your pre-order too far in advance is important. For this reason, we will attempt to take payment for pre-orders 1-3 days before the official release date once we have the items in stock and ready to ship, so you're not paying anything earlier than necessary.
However, orders placed with Credit/Debit Card that are for items that are released more than 90 days from the date purchased will need to be charged in advance. We will email you a few days before so you can ensure you have sufficient funds available in advance.
Payment for orders placed using PayPal will be captured when we dispatch your items, unless your order was placed more than 28 days before the official release date. In this case, your payment will be captured wi

Indeed. If you're not comfortable paying this far in front (I'm not 100% sure if TGC have a price promise?) Base have it for an additional 50p with charge on dispatch. I'd imagine when they catch wind of this that will likely change.

I've already a copy pre-ordered via Nintendo Store. Not the cheapest at £49.99 but Nintendo Store has been very reliable for me to date and this is a game I don't want to gamble on. October 27th (barring delays) can't come soon enough.

Decent price but ShopTo and Base are also offering it for around about the same price. Voted hot anyway as it is a good price for the product itself.
This code brings the prices of TGC games down to ShopTo and Base levels. TGC are usually the cheapest around but it looks like they have creeped back up in price. Swapped back to ShopTo for my post E3 pre orders as TGC were a day late on delivery for MK8D and ARMS. :disappointed:
Really don't understand how £40+ for a game is a good deal?
EDIT: Good price in terms of its the cheapest its been. But I think its too expensive still.

This isn't a copy of Fifa 17 that is going to drop to £1 the second a new game comes out.
Look up the prices of pretty much all past Nintendo first party games.
They hold their value pretty well.

That's fair enough, but looking at them from an "investment" purposes alone, most people won't play them perpetually and if you can get say 40 hours out of a game, enjoy it, complete it, maybe pass it around a little and then sell it for £30.00 then circa 25p an hour for entertainment is damn good value.
Taking selling it out of the equation and just buying it alone then £42.45 still stacks up well, a pound an hour for entertainment (or probably lower since, if you're going to keep it, you're probably going to want to play it again). Unless you're the sort of person who collects inanimate objects that have no use - then fair enough - THAT'S when I'd argue it's poor value.

Such a pain to swap cards that I am just going to pay full whack and get the from the estore from now on. Otherwise every time someone wants to play a game they have to undock the console, find the cart, open the slot, loose the tiny card somewhere etc.
Will probably save on lost carts in the long run.
2minutenoodles to halap3n0

Yeah it is awkward to change the cards but I refuse to pay for air. A few years ago games that I had paid for disappeared from my PSN account and Sony refused to put them back essentially calling me a liar because I deleted the emails about a year later. Had a similar issue with EA via apple where in app purchases disappeared and they wouldn't refund. Never paying for air again.

That's crazy talk when you think about the value you get out of a game compared to a cinema ticket.
Some people are prepared to pay £10 to see dross like Transformers for two hours but complain about £40 for a game that will usually easily see you for 10+ hours of entertainment.

I completely disagree. A lot of those films have huge budgets (as do big budget games) but often costs many times less. They don't last as long, but that's not what you're paying for. While Super Mario Odyssey does look like a fun game, it should also be noted that you're still paying premium for nintendo catching up to the same visual quality as other platforms have been doing for many years. Of course visuals aren't everything but I don't think these games should cost this much when using a code. I've bought quality Wii U and PC games for less than half the price or even much less. My point isn't what people should or shouldn't spend their money on, but merely that I think nintendo should reconsider their pricing.
Well I was comparing it to today's standard instead of a time when gaming was much smaller than it is today. Frankly £50 of switch games they generally cost isn't really that different from what your "petition" asks for, especially with BotW online downloads cost £60. I personally don't think nintendo are competitive in the console market. If they adjust it, I will change my mind.

My experience is a bit too lengthy to share in full, but to summarise, the switch had a couple of minor faults. I was told to send it back to them and that they would get it back to me in 5 to 7 days.
Several days after I sent it back i'd not heard anything, so I phoned them up. They claimed that they'd not received it but conveniently found it a day later when I confirmed that someone had signed for it on the parcel force online tracking facility.
Several phone calls and days later, I learned that they needed to order parts and that could be up to 3 weeks.
In the end, I requested a refund which was agreed, but took a long for them to confirm. I ended up losing a fairly hefty Zelda game save, and all in, wasted 3 weeks on it before buying another switch from a supermarket.

Paying a premium for Nintendo catching up to visual quality? What? Bang for buck, games work out better per hour. I don't see how you can dispute this.
What you need to bear in mind is that development costs are going up with every generation but games still cost the same as they always have. Sometimes less.
If the price points aren't good for you, you don't have to game, but you simply can't claim that on average games aren't relatively good value for money. They are, pure and simple.

The thing is that you're using a very precise comparison to favour nintendo. I'm comparing them to other platforms. For example, The Witcher 3, super hyped game, looks better and people have got so many hours out of it, yet it costs half as much. Nintendo aren't the only ones spending time to make quality games, but you pay more for the hardware and more for the software. Personally I want a switch, but I don't want to pay extra for the privilege. After all, it's not like nintendo makes premium products.
I do game and have done since I was very little since we had a snes. I don't need a nintendo console in order to game... I have had every nintendo handheld generation though did find it harder justifying a 3ds until I got an XL for £120. I've also wanted a Wii U but also couldn't justify it which makes me worry about nintendo even though I did find value getting a preowned version when they announced the switch. I think you're exaggerating development costs too, BotW was designed for Wii U, Mario kart 8 is already for the Wii U, Splatoon 2 doesn't seem to be a huge leap over the first one. It's only now that we're starting to see more unique titles and as I said, other platforms have been facing the same general development costs for years. When I have the choice of 2-3 solid games or 1 solid game, I'm likely going to side with the former option.

Yes because comparing them to other platforms is spot on. Firstly you can't play the other platforms on the go secondly the switch has only been out a few months. PS4 and Xbox One games were being advertised at £50-£60 when first released years ago.
Again you're wrong saying your are paying more for the hardware if you actually use the prices the consoles launched at.

On the go somewhat justifies the console price not so much for premium game prices, particularly since mobile is more of a thing. Although I do think that at the price they're charging they could have made improvements to things such as battery life or storage. If Nintendo games become £30-£40 standard without codes, I will change my argument. Otherwise I can't rely on Nintendo since they can be quite stubborn and I will voice what I think is more appropriate. I mean they're competing with mobile devices with similar specs that have additional features and better performing consoles. We don't really want it turning into another vita or Wii U.

You're also wrong using a comparison with Nintendo hardware because Nintendo tend not to sell their hardware at a loss. Sony and Microsoft are far more willing to do so and make the money back on the games. Neither approach is wrong, it's just a different financial approach. You have every right to support whichever one you want, but you still can't say games aren't value for money. They are.

1) Nintendo trying to profit on their consoles doesn't give me reason to go with them over anyone else.
2) It's not entirely accurate, Sony and Microsoft do actually make a profit on their hardware once costs lower. Looking at the Wii U nintendo lowering costs isn't something we can rely on.
3) This is why I brought up software costs on top of the Hardware costs.
4) You're basically saying that making extra money on hardware and software is a valid alternative to just charging more for the games that are brought down (though PC doesn't really face this as much).
5) I'm not saying games as a whole aren't value for money, though that is entirely opinion based. I'm saying the switch isn't value for money as it is. If you see value in it, that's fine, everyone has their own opinion. I just want them to give me a reason to get me to play some of the games I like over more competitive just as well made games that usually perform better. After all on the announcement I was really excited for the switch and considering a day 1 buy. Now I'm wondering if I should wait for a hardware revision and hope the games drop.

You're splitting hairs and making moot points. If performance is what matters to you, buy the most expensive PC you can afford and enjoy Crisis. Or you could just enjoy the unparalleled gameplay that Nintendo offers from their exclusives. Or get a PS4/Xbox for somewhere in between. If you don't see games as value for money in any of these offerings, you can vote with your wallet.
The rest of us are in buying and enjoying all that gaming has to offer  Au revoir!
