Haven't heard the Sony, but I got a set of Bose QC35 for £288 from Electric shop. More than happy with them so far.

These vs Sennheiser Momentum 2's

I tried the Bose QC35's and they sound so flat, I wasn't impressed by them.

I found these on Amazon.De a week or so ago from an expired post for 299 euros, about £274. It went up to normal price the next day so didn't post.
They are excellent but for £274 I would think so. Never tried the Bose so can't tell compare.
Mine arrived from amazon Germany but had a return label for Scotland?
Might be worth keeping an eye on the German price?

It states 'Active noise reduction'. Is that purely for the microphone used for calls?

Guys try Plantronics Back Beat Pro 2 for less than £200 before buying this. I wasn't impressed by Bose and Sony what so ever

Okay, second question before I pull the trigger, who are Bax Music? I ask because:

I bought a pair of Philips M2BT from Flubit right at the start of 2015 and had them replaced by Philips at the very end of 2015 because the ear cushions had come apart and the track skip had become a bit iffy (I can't remember if I mentioned the track skip trouble at the time). There was no trouble with proof of purchase. Then in August 2016 I contacted Philips again as the ear cushions had come apart on the second set (dodgy glue maybe) and this time they posted me a replacement set of pads to switch out. Again I had no trouble.

So yea, £180 for say 2 years 5 months use, almost daily and for many hours and having being replaced completely once this new pair is still going strong at nearly 18 months old. Could I expect the same from Sony even though I've never heard of Bax Music retailer before?

Had many, many 'phones over the years and these are the best sounding. Great build and noise cancelling, tho the functionality is a bit hit and miss overall I really rate them. Unfortunately, I rarely use mine as I feel a muppet walking around with them like a wannabee DJ (I'm granpaw age!!) so tend to use my earbuds. Very, very cool sound tho if you can carry it off ;-)

Anyone with meaningful comparisons between these and the sub £400 offerings by B&W, B&O and Sennheiser based on sound quality alone?

Those are the top of my wish list but reviews of these Sony's have been so overwhelmingly excellent. I prefer the styling of Momentums. I really need to listen to them both together.

I also have the B&O H7's, which I bought from B&O's Ebay store for £170. The sound on them is pretty special, but they don't have noise cancelling. Build is luxurious as is the comfort. The touch/swipe controls are the best I've ever experienced on a pair of headphones.

Yeah best thing you can do is just listen to them all and see what you prefer.

Way too many, but my favourite all rounders due to sound, build and size (earbuds) where the Etymotic ER series ... the Sony's sound different but equally great and have the Noise Cancelling, which is truly awesome. But even saying that the Etymotic when in ear are silent too.

Mine cost about fifty quid more than this when I bought them and even at that original price I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. One of the best purchases I've ever made, pure quality. Can't comment on this seller though...

Great sounding headphones, use every day and noise cancelling works really well on the train. Good price too, less than I paid!

Brilliant piece of headphones. Noise cancelling system is amazingly good, what let's you save your hearing in the loud environment (e.g. at the gym, when the music is being played out loud it's enough to set a half of the scale to distance from it effectively).

Have no comparison to competitors, but it doesn't matter - these got good reviews and offers more than I expected. Paid £320 a week ago, but would pay the same once again.

A lot of people have stated that the Bose are more comfortable. I suppose it depends how long you wear them.

I'm still torn between the two. If the comfort levels were the same, I'd take the Sonys.

I have the QC25s from Bose and tried out a colleague's Sony 1000 for the day at work. Really impressed with the Sony phones but the sound was nicer for me from Bose and the noise cancelling and comfort was also better. There are some great features on the Sonys that I liked, particularly that they can be used without a battery with acceptable sound.

I echo other people's opinions, try both before you buy and don't ignore Bose as some rich persons toy as I did for years, I genuinely love the flat profile and the fact I can use an EQ from a good baseline if I find them wanting on the odd track.
