If a £65 Blu-Ray player has better up-scaling than your 4K TV I would be questioning your choice of TV tbh....

May be obvious to some but this will not play 4k Bluray Discs

pretty sure they do. it would be pretty silly to release a 4k tv without upscaling considering the lack of actual native 4k content.
I would assume that makes upscaling bluray players pretty irrelevant.

errr.... but that's what I am doing....buying blu ray discs. I don't have a 4K player. No point buying one yet....waste of money.

well in that case buy the blu ray disc..... it still plays in a 4k player. And buy 4k discs as and when you want, with the added benefit of a bluvray version AND digital copy

If you have a 4k tv why would you buy a blu ray player?? waste of tech

Because there are hardly any 4K Blu Ray discs available.
But I agree with other comments that a decent 4K TV will do a far better upscaling job than this cheap player.

Upscaling? No thanks. I'll stick to 1080p as i remember the first few years of upscaled HD ready LCD's, you lose 1/3 of the picture to see the wrinkles on a blown up head!

Pretty much this.
I don't see the point in an upscaling bluray player tbh. Just save a little more and get a full on UHD player as you will also get the benefit of HDR.

All 4K TVs will upscale as it is their resolution. Is it better than this? Will depend on the quality of the TV.

So same brand bluray players are all totally different then ?
Mine is the 6200 - this is the 6500
Same factory, same brand- same materials even - usually means something.

They all do. "Upscaling" by itself is nothing special, every PC and TV can do it.
The only question is whether this bluray player is better at upscaling than the TV you connect it to.

Ive got a Sony BluRay player - and it WAS fine until a firmware update. Now it won't play 85% of MKV or MP4 the odd one will, bafflingly. And even more weird, it wont play the odd AVI.
Yet prior to the so-called firmware upgrade if it wouldn't play there was a problem with the disc or the download. NOT the Sony and that was rare

that's a 2yr old article about the benefits of 4k over HD, when 4k first tvs appeared. its discussing if there is a difference at all. I remember the same arguments about SD vs HD.
