Never brought a phone from abroad so apologies if this is a silly question, apart from the charger are there any disadvantages to getting this from Amz Italy or is it similar to a UK Handset? as its unbranded I'm guessing will get all the software updates etc without issues.

Mine was due to be delivered from amazon.it last Sunday, it then updated to say yesterday was due then at last minute when at local courier office (tracking) it said item damaged and not sent, so i will be getting refund (hopefully).

So I got my s8 delivered last week from Amazon.it using Revolut. Safe to say that it wasn't easy - for this size transaction make sure they validate your account/card before trying to buy otherwise it sets up a series of issues with declines, blocks and frozen 'pending' transactions. I spent about 3-4 hours trying to sort it out - including webchats in Italian to Amazon (thank God for Google Translate).

Great concept, but when it goes wrong it really goes wrong. Still, got my s8 for £505 in the end after all the hassle.

Stupid to spend this sort of money on an android phone. On an iPhone fair enough because it is far more refined and polished but for an android this is a ridiculous price. I have a galaxy S7 which I got for a good price but it's not a patch on the iPhone 6S it replaced.

Yep, I don't dispute that. Lots of people doing something doesn't make it any less stupid. If you want the best buy an iPhone. If you're happy with compromise go android, but paying iPhone money for android experience is clearly just daft.

I don't want a long discussion but check the difference between every iPhone iteration and the galaxy's. You will actually see Apple are cutting corners lack of anything innovative.

You can check what you like on paper, but having used both iOS beats android hands down. Yes it might not have as much ram or as many pixels but it works better and smoother than android which to me is far more important. The whole OS is more refined and polished and the same can be said for apps (the HUKD app for example which seems to default to audiovisual all the time on android but is perfect on iOS)
I accept android is far better than it used to be and I have no major problems with my S7 but if I were spending this sort of money on a phone the iPhone would win hands down.

the s8 is in a different league to previous galaxy phones. my wife has 6s which I use often and I had s6. I have no bias but I really enjoyed the s6 better. the iOS felt restrictive to do basic tasks.
the s8 has latest android and it is really good. I have a Mac and will never use Windows but phones android is ahead for me.

No, you can't get expandable memory, but surely 128gb plus cloud storage is more than enough.
No, you can't install showbox or Kodi but if streaming media is a key requirement there are better ways to do it, including on an iPhone (Plex)
No, you can't buy cheap iPhones - but that's why android exists, to cater for the lower end of the market.
iPhones, in my experience are better build quality, infinitely better support if anything does go wrong (walk into Apple Store and walk out with brand new phone), supported for far longer with security/OS updates - 4 year old phones still on latest OS, unheard of with android.
Apps/OS optimised to run on apple hardware so much less buggy and a far more polished experience.
Better overall integration of features, FaceTime, iMessage etc remove the need to use third party apps for basic call and text functions.

Having used both platforms you can't compare the 2 so easily, depends on yours uses. An android is almost a full fledged pc, ios more a pc with training wheels if you don't want no fuss and things to be complicated, that does compromise its ability somewhat just as Android isn't hassle free as ios is for the average user.
In regards to iPhones running well beyond 4 years and they get updates that long.. Its a joke every update kills your old iphone slowly but surely, brilliant on their part as that's how money is made.

That's simply not true. I know plenty of people still using older iPhones. I still have an iPhone 5 as a work phone which was released in 2012 yet still runs perfectly fine on the latest version of iOS and still gets regular updates. Never have any issues with it being slow. Running out of storage on an older iPhone is more likely to be a problem than the phone slowing down but even that is less of an issue with cloud storage getting better/cheaper.
