I've got the Russell Hobbs version of this and previously had actifry. Pros of this type is temperature can be adjusted and easier to clean than actifry. Cons are you have to shake/rotate contents to even cooking and you can't see how food is cooking without removing drawer. The actifry is expensive and didn't last as long as this type of fryer so value for money is great. We cook things like wedges (home made/frozen) roast potatoes, obviously chips fresh & frozen. I don't add any oil to frozen products fresh I add a little Fry light by flora. They are great for crisper potato products and when the oven is full of other stuff!
Hope that helps :sunglasses:

Yesterday did spring roles for 12 mins and then had to do another 5 minutes. Apart from colour as they were not brown as they would be in an oil they tasted fine.
In the evening used the fryer for home made wedges and they were fine, only thing is we forgot to shake them half way through so some of them had minor burn.
When kids are back from school will do fish fingers or chicken strips - So far so good!
You should buy it as 30 days return in Lidl if you don't like it.
How did you get on? I was looking at this today x[/quote]

I had a phillips one before, cost about £80 and stopped working 18mths later. Replaced with a Breville Halo which was useless and went back to Argos a couple of weeks later.
Just picked one of these up as despite the brand snob moans on here Lidl Silvercrest stuff is always excellent quality imo.
Happy to say it's excellent, very very quiet (far quieter than the phillips) and cooks food lovely.
3 year warranty as always with Silvercrest. Excellent.

Buy it...great bits of kit, I have phillips, the non stick has bubbled three times now on the pan, phillips replaced twice now out of warrenty would replace with this in a heartbeat. Use it daily as a mini oven hardly any oil required, make your own lovely chips, burgers, heat up slices pizza, wedges..roast spuds are to die for ...three yr warrenty for under £50 go for it.

And how much does the electricity cost after waiting 7 mins for the oven to heat up then 20 minutes cooking time ? Ten minute job in the air fryer

Probably being a bit snobby but I would hold off buying one and wait for the Phillips to be reduced (seems to be a regular occurrence) and pay a little bit more for a proven (and very well reviewed) appliance... :man:

I bought one of the budget brands before and the results were disappointing (chips hard in the middle, burned on the outside). Went back to Philips, which does chips perfect every time.

These are not fryers they are ovens
Just stick a few chips in your oven and you have the same thing and saved yourself £50 quid!

I have an air fryer - its my second favorite kitchen gadget (after the Coffee maker ). It takes a bit of getting use to as its fast plus you don't have to have the temp set as high as it says on food packaging.
