Had 2 parcels delivered by Hermes and both times they just chucked it over the back gate. Both times parcel was damaged and Hermes didn't want to know. I would avoid like the plague!

Another Hermes user here who's never had a problem with them, when sending stuff I always use an insured/signed for service so not sure if that makes a difference. Same with stuff delivered to me by them too though, our local delivery driver has never left a parcel anywhere, if we're not in she puts a card through and comes back next day.

I normally use PF via parcelmonkey, most other couriers charge an arm and a leg for even the smallest bit of insurance.

Yeah, guess someone pressed the wrong button or has something against Shutl. This is actually a very good deal for sending larger / heavier items very cheap. My only issue with Shutl is their compensation cover options are very limited.

Yes loads of deals on here get expired ,seems to be lots of idiots on here that just love to expire really good deals
Call me skeptical but I think its done selfishly to keep it for themselves some times

I've had 11kg tracked parcels go middling with Hermes how do you manage that
sharkmark
20 Jun 17#37
Yes, I sent parcel with a signed for service and instead they delivered to a wheelie bin, except it didn't belong to the house and was 100m or so away so it was either stolen or lost altogether - a £200 item no less. I actively avoid them like the plague now

not that long ago I swore I would never use Hermes due to the bad rep they got but with RM upping their prices I gave myhermes a go. 674 parcels later and only one claim for loss (posted next door, neighbour denied it) paid out very quickly including postage cost. I offered free delivery so ended up with more as they refunded my sale price plus the price I paid for postage unlike royal mail who want receipts and won't refund post cost.

Boom. Wanted to send an amp I'd sold so needed the extra cover offered by the UPS deal. 15kg overnight from London to Northern Ireland for £6.50 is not to be sniffed at!
igneuscutwell
19 Jun 171#31
I would guess so. Final fee is 10% of total, including postage. PayPal take another cut, which works out at about 5%, or more for low value items.

Used this a few times this month (outside these dates) for £5.88 collected. No issues and cheaper than sending from hermes site. Checked and they also were able to schedule a collection a day earlier than by using their site too, strange but no complaints.

I've been using UPS all month. 1 day delivery for 5.65 to 5.75. Surely worth the extra 40p as your more likely to get a sale than with 3 to 5 days delivery. Or am I missing something?

Hermes was okay, we used them quite regularly between 2011 and 2013 sending around 120+ parcels but these days they'd be the last courier i'd use for sending something remotely valuable or delicate. Even seeing them on an Ebay listing as the sellers courier of choice puts me off.

This code: Yodeldirect10 (10%) seems to always work so always use it. Just had a big box with a PS4 and camera inside collected using 48hr (for some reason arrives next day)
I tend to use Yodel xpresspack 48hr for £6.50 and happy with it so far.

How does that work, do you have to go to Yodel Store or can they collect from a specified address?
Istanbul_Kop
19 Jun 171#8
Yeah, but if I'm in...I expect it to be delivered to my house. Not an MOT garage were anyone could nab it. Only reason I found out is because I had sms tracking on, so I went and picked it up as soon as I got the text.
Bilbo1968
19 Jun 171#7
I'd rather have it delivered safely with a neighbour instead of stuck in my bin or chucked over my fence both of which I've had with Hermes.
Istanbul_Kop
19 Jun 17#6
Could be worse, had a parcel delivered by UKmail the other day to the garage over the road - reason? Couldn't find address. I'm literally directly opposite from the garage with a massive house number on my gate. In other words, just couldn't be bothered.

Wouldn't send any high value items via Hermes it'll probably end up in a wheely bin.
