Ignored the comments about geese and whether this was a national or regional deal and just took a drive down to my local. They had two 1TB empty boxes on the shelves, not what I wanted but they were £27.50 each when scanned, so I took the plunge. The sales assistant went to check stock in the back as they were showing 0 in stock. When she got back she didnt find any 1tb, but found one 2TB and one 4TB!!! Happy days, so a BIG FAT THANK-YOU to the OP!!!

Dam! Did I get hustled? I got a 1tb portablel seagate for 52.99 in maplin.

4TB was £90 and 2TB was £39.50.

You can open the drive and put it into the ps4 internally.
Then use the stock 500gb as am external unit.

I take that it's desktop sized, rather than a laptop (2.5") size?

Just as an edit to the info for Rugby branch. They are not kept on the shelves so don't bother looking, please go to the Pay Desk at the back of the store near the electricals and ask there for it as they kept getting stolen they keep them locked away. The one in the picture looks like 2.5". Ensure you have 2 copies of your valuable daa because these have high failure rates.

I too popped into my local as I was already in town, I wasn't expecting to see any because all the other times I've been in looking for posted deals they never have the items or are at full price. This time I was surprised to see the tickets were showing with the discounted price but non on the shelf so I asked if they had any in stock, the nice young man came back a minute later with some hard drives.

It was my first wild goose I managed to get my hands on at Sainsbury's. It just goes to show that you will come across a deal eventually if you keep checking the stores. Like they say, you have to buy a ticket to have a chance of winning the lottery. My thanks to OP.

The people buying for PS4 are using the drive as intended, for external storage. There is no longer any need to go through the faff of replacing the hard drive (a faff because of the back up and transfer of data needed).

OK. Thanks for that info. Don't have a PS so had no idea apart from the numerous requests of people on various threads wanting to extract bare drives from these sorts of portable drives for fitting internally.

I've seen those posts and it baffles me as to why they'd bother now external drives are supported.

got one, but returned it because it didnt seem to work. it turned on but it was not recognized by pc. tried with cable from othrr hard disk n nothing either. it was beeping in a very quiet way, almost inaudible, not sure if that is how it works or was indicating something.
