Just ordered ThiEye T5e from gearbest for £89, saw the various comparison videos and found out GoPro hero 4 actually using the same sony sensor and chipset as T5e or other Chinese manufacturer so of course their is not much difference in terms of picture/video quality except the rip of price
Its not 4K, but for £30, it's not half bad... complete with every attachment imaginable... we clipped one to the front of a boat, and think the video is pretty good...
... gizza shout if you wanna see a clip of what that cam claims to be 4K .

Main selling point is the warranty, as I found out when I bought a Chinese equivalent and it broke after a few uses, to be told it only has a 45 day warranty, leaving me £100 lighter...

I have a Hawkeye Firefly 6S. It looks better than a gopro in good light. low light.. well just don't bother.

Hmmm.. Pretty sure the sj4000 out-performs the GoPro hero 3+ video quality-wise.
The only advantage the Hero 3+ really has over the sj4000 is external mic support out of the box (Whereas the sj4000 requires a hardware mod) and warranty*. *As this is a refurb it only has a 12 month warranty

I got a sj4000. Not a single issue... very good quality camera if set up correctly. Avoid the eBay rip offs of them, buy direct from their site.

I suppose you are paying for reliability. The Chinese clones cost usually under 35 pounds.....

And picture quality
And lens quality
And low light performance, sound, a proper battery, brand and a warranty.

Take it this would need a case to be waterproof?

The blurb states that waterproof housing is included

Cheapo camera video
Since then, I've also upgraded to a £60 "4K" Eken cam from AliExpress, but not got a sample uploaded yet...
£60 camera that probably ain't 4K
