Yep, that will be the great (for Nintendo) 'Switch tax' everyone seems to be talking about, where everything released for Nintendo's console has to be about double (or more) what it costs on alternative platforms, kind of like Streetfighter 2 at £40, vs £15 in 2008 on PS3/Xbox 360 and Bomberman being £40 and the mini game compilation 1 2 switch being the same price. It honestly amazes me that the Switch is selling so well.
Best way to avoid switch tax? buy any other console and stop being fleeced by Nintendo....

But they set the price for the cartridges... So in a round about sort of way, they do...

The game itself is a masterpiece but it's cheaper on other platforms.

I bought this in HMV for the Wii U for £5 about two years ago. Kinda amazes me that Nintendo's fetish for re-releasing games at stupid prices is only getting more obvious

This will be a good game for the Switch but i'll bite at £20

Precisely what does copperspock need to "get over"?
He or she made a perfectly fair comment so there was no need for you to be rude just because it seemingly hurt your precious fee fees.

...but Nintendo games tend not to fall in price so quickly, look at Wii U game prices even now.

How is this hot? This is a 4 year old game that has been available for under £3.99 on PC and XBox 360.

How is this the 'definitive' version when, to the best of my knowledge, Switch isn't capable of simultaneous gameplay on two independent screens like Wii U does?

I don't think that's really the case. I think there's a fair amount of people interested in the system who aren't impulsive and weigh up the cons instead of buying and defending the flaws as if they're non-existent. Hopefully by the end of the year or next year it will be in a better place.

There are a pathetic amount of games for the Switch, though.

If you only want to play BotW then Switch is not for you. A lot of us are being drawn into playing Mario Kart on the go, ARMS, Splatoon, Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade, plus a lots of indie offers.
Oh and Pokemon, Metroid and FE.. and....
Since I got my Switch, my time split between PS4 and Switch was probably 20-80 only because I was determined to platinum Horizon Zero Dawn and Nier Automata

Yeah it's sad that there is such a high cost for the games. I'm sure they'll reduce in price. I remember things like NFS most wanted on PSVita being really expensive and it went right down to £7.
Don't mind paying these prices for brand new games like Mario or Zelda but not for something so old and rereleased

It is, especially considering it has been available on the Vita as handheld.
Genuinely believe if they charged a tenner they would sell more than 3x the copies to make up for it, as pretty much every switch owner would buy it for the sake of a tenner.
I've preordered it anyway of course.

Sadly overpricing is a trend on the Switch. Switch owners have proven they will pay over the odds so there's no incentive to price lower.
Even though I've written the above I will still probably buy this yet again if I end up holding onto my Switch...

oh, but that isn't the "definitive" edition with all these (unannounced) features. conveniently written to an (extortionately overpriced proprietary) game card, offering (watered-down) mobile gameplay!

Played it on the WiiU and vita but it's a good game and there aren't a great deal of non indie games on the switch so I'm tempted to play again. But I'll be waiting until I can pick up for £20 to buy yet again
