Been looking for an Nvidia Shield 2015 model for a while that wasn't silly money and came across this. There are cheaper options depending on condition but an A+ Nvidia Shield TV for £125 with 12 months warranty seems like a good price to me.
A+ now looks like it's OOS but the following are available at the link
and the over scan very handy as was using projector

Invest in this controller. It plugs into back of USB. This is best controller i have ever used.

Have both the Pro and the 16gb 2015 models. Great bit of kit that get used pretty much daily. Needs more catch up services on it tho as only iPlayer is officially on it and the others either won't play or are a pain to navigate with on Android TV.

You'll probably already know this but it has Chromecast built in so the apps that the Shield doesn't have, just download them onto your phone, ITV Hub etc, they cast brilliantly & the definition is the same as the official apps on other devices. iPlayer excluded

i got a mad catz mojo, which keeps freezing and signal keeps flickering, as when playing kodi video it would stop randomly and bring ya back at menu, any issues with kodi

I've had this once or twice but never looked into it much. I guess its related to kodi itself as this doesnt happen in netflix, youtube etc.

Does anyone know how these handle Kodi/Netflix etc in terms of variable refresh rate, i.e. are these apps just fixed refresh rate or do they/can they switch between source material refresh rate on demand?

I had a half decent pc running kodi and then switched to this. Have never been happier. Runs 4k content like a dream and as said you can select automatic refresh rate in kodi.

There's a setting in Kodi to "Adjust Display refresh rate" to match the video.

I've got this model. Plenty of saport from Nvidia. Has better connectivity then the new model better tv remote IMHO and we will get Google assistancent as and when it's available £125 is a reasonable price better then what you will find on ebay

Why the interest in the 2015 model? I have this one and I wondered does it do more than the newer version or something?

I use a Harmony Remote without the hub so IR is a must for me. Also the option to have micro sd is good too as I don't really want a USB stick or hard drive hanging off the back of it. Other than that the 2017 and 2015 models are pretty similar.

Is this the same spec internally as the later model? does anyone know if it can be upgraded to have Google assistant?
calvin21 to djhazey2k
26 Jun 171#5
Yes same processor and ram internally. The 2017 model is smaller and removed micro sd and IR. The controller and remote are different too. Nvidia have stated that Google Assistant will come to the 2015 model too at some point not sure if the latest update has that yet though.

There's one available here that has some faults with the wifi and bluetooth for £85. So you could still use a harmony remote via infrared and hook it up via ethernet and you're good to go: https://www.studentcomputers.co.uk/NVIDIA-Shield-16GB-Android-TV-Box---Grad_1487341.html
