I have to admit Dacia have some good value cars. Who needs to look like a muppet in an AUDI, Mercedes, BMW etc... when you can buy a cheaper car. They laugh at me for driving a cheap car, well I laugh at the more for driving an expensive car.

Thats great news, I hope they do only charge an extra £1000 for the auto, though I would prefer an older 4 speed torque converter auto (with Renault and Nissan being so close I would reckon they could get an old 4 Speed Jatco auto box for peanuts, but Nissan have also been making reliable CVT's for donkeys years like in the K11 micra, so even one of them would be reliable. This dual clutch setup sounds a bit exotic and judging by VAG's earlier DSG system it could prove to be quite unreliable. Still, £8300 for a brand new Auto estate aint half bad)

I dont think people are buying Dacias to enjoy driving them .
But that's perfectly fine , not everyone enjoys driving .
No its not going to be the most dynamic drive , it probably isn't the most comfortable ,it probably wont be the fastest . But the mass popularity of car shaped objects like the Citroen C1/Toyota Aygo tell us that for a number of people just an affordable car to get them from A to B is what they want .Dacia are trying to break into that sector of the market and good luck to them
As for the comments about aircon . yes it is only really hot enough in the UK for air con to be useful for maintaining a comfortable temperature for about 2 weeks but i find it is also really good at clearing the windscreen quickly as when its cold . But its a nice to have not an essential and something you should factor into your budget

Sort of good quote & I think youve answered your own question- you would buy one of these which as you say has less than a new 02 Clio as basically thats what you are getting is an 02 Clio but in drag but still paying 02 prices - if you need a much fater / high specced car of 2017 spec then pay twice as much & get one - basically you get what you pay for & if you want basic no frills transport & not fussed on more bhp & usb's then thats why youd get one - simples!!

Great response. Really well written. And as for the above 900kg statement... That's just around 250kg less than it actually weighs.

For some may be a good deal but I can't fathom getting a car in 2017 that seems to have fewer add ons than my first car (02 plate clio)

No dis respect also but ive got the less powerful 1.2 Sandero & unless your whole family are 20 stone & you filling the boot full of bricks then it'll do the job - as fast & as kitted out as a £20k focus estate no but id rather go a bit slower & save £10k myself - you got one yourself so know wot ur talking about i take it ?

No disrespect, but the first issue with your comment is that you are referring to the weight / power to weight ratio of an empty car. The target audience for a car of this size/shape will most likely be mid-large families. I couldn't imagine driving this 1.0 litre car with my wife. 2 children, myself and a full boot.

24 Jun 17#40
Please tell me this is not a 1.0 litre car? Will it move the weight?
POWYSWALES to sinxa

Car only weighs around 900kg plus the engine is as powerful as the 1.2 engine it is replacing, its power to weight ratio is better than a lot of 1.4 litre cars.

Some will like the car, some won't. Some think it's very cheap, others don't. Fact remains it's LIST PRICE here - that's not what HUKD is about!

Had a Sandero now for 2 years & do a 30 mile round trip to work every day - most motorway & it does what it says on the tin - basic, but reliable & overall fantastic value for money - agree - perhaps not the best if doing big miles or as a family car but cant stand some of the car snobs on here who'd prefer to pay twice the price for the same but a different badge its like buying a laptop with 10TB of storage & use it to store a few phots - got to laugh at these people

Just because it's cheap doesn't make it good value. Plenty of cheap skates on here trying to justify their awful purchases. 3 star safety in 2017. No stereo as standard. Cold - like death.

It's just a cheap car, not a deal, and it's cheap for a reason. Add the basic extras that most cars come with as standard and it isn't so cheap anymore. Just changing the upholstery can take it up to £12k. No deal here.

Hot. I just wish, for the same price or a tiny bit more, they would include an automatic gear box, and a basic radio with USB/Aux (can get them for £30 plus another £25 for speakers, I know, but the hassle of wiring one in, even if it is already partially wired is just a pain). But you cant have everything. Metalic paint is £495 extra (well some of the colours are trim specific and cost much more). This is a perfectly usable, safe and good quality family estate for the price of 7 Chinese 125cc motorbikes that only cost £100 to make, this is a modernish european designed car that meats all the latest regs and must cost more like £3000-£4000 to make.

Great car, got mine back in January. Drives much better than you think, the turbo petrol is a hoot considering its such a small capacity. 50 mpg as well around town and £20 road tax.
And yes, I have loads of different cars from the usual Fords to BMWs etc.
The space in the back is huge !
And dont forget its only a Renault in drag.

I was in a crash in my Logan last year and the engineer who assessed it said it did amazingly and absorbed so much of the shock. he was surprised my dog survived never mind had the minimal injuries he did. I will sing this car's praises for a long time. i would have been in a very different situation if it wasn't for this car.
