Just a heads up to everyone. My MSI cashback of £25 has been approved
We have Yodel, also known as Amazon Logistics because of Amazon prime so they deliver on Sunday too. Also mine was shipped from the UK not Germany.

This card was last selling for EUR650+ and is now completely sold out b/c of all the people buying it for mining. If amazon.de ever ships this item out, I'll happily take it -- don't count on the price of graphics cards going down anytime soon!!

That's what I am going to do, by that time Vega will be out and this may not be worth the price anymore.

This ^. Nvidia prices don't drop even with the AMD releases, as retailers just shove the new cards in the next price gap. The golden days of cheap powerful comeback cards are over especially with the pound being so weak right now and our wages hardly changing yet we still pay more VAT and other taxes:
No noticeable drops across both camps ^. :disappointed:
alien7
17 Jun 17#60
Yes, they were £300 - 20% off voucher - cashback = about £210. Everything depreciates in value, not just graphics cards. Feel free to wait for a 'major' price drop for Nvidia graphics cards, but you might have to wait a long time
joe_shmoe
17 Jun 17#59
The GTX 970's were £320 when they released, not £210,(they held out price until rx were almost released) so the iro 60% depreciation is exactly what I am talking about. I was watching with money ready. The gtx 1070 will nose dive in value upon vega release just the same. And Nvidia will 'gimp' the card just the same as gtx 780't.i.'s are now not even considered whilst my friends still run R9 280X's. I have told you how it will pan out,I dont give a toss if you take no notice.
alien7
17 Jun 17#58
I bought a GTX 970 card for £210 and sold it for £150 after 2.5 years, so you're talking rubbish! Since the pound value will keep dropping due to Brexit, I don't see these cards getting cheaper any time soon. The recommended price for this card is €430, so buying one for €100 cheaper is a good deal in my book!
joe_shmoe
17 Jun 17#57
I really wouldnt invest in high end Nvidia card presently unless completely stuck and dire needing 1440p performance. These suckers drop 70% of resale value over 3 years. Nvidia gimp/ignore drivers at that point.(10 series already a yr old). Vega will change market outlook on gpu prices, just as rx did. Eventually. (vega will be limited quantities initially).
TehJumpingJawa
17 Jun 17#56
No, chose not to buy.
- The 1070 ITX form factor slight put off, as it will lower OC/boost ceiling. - When the mining boom ends, there'll be a glut of 2nd hand cards, and likely GPU price crash, so it's a bad time to buy overspec'ed hardware for future proofing. - card probably won't arrive before the MSI cashback period expires. - I already have a 1060 6GB, good enough for a while yet & a hassle to resell.
If I didn't have the 1060 I'd have been all aboard though!

16 Jun 17#34
That's cheaper than the AMD rx 580, which is selling for some crazy prizes, because of crypto-currency boom.
The only other seller on there showed as 4 in stock when I ordered from Amazon, so it is not like they had a lot to sell.
Does anyone know how quickly they tend to cancel, if they do?

Interesting that the product now has absolutely no suppliers remaining!
Is that really what happens when hukd causes a particular product to reach #1 popularity on Amazon? All the other suppliers sell out too simply due to click traffic, even though their price was nothing special?!
*sigh* if you've got customers that ambivalent to prices, you have to wonder about the integrity & effectiveness of free market economics.

Large fans are quieter than small fans because they need lower RPM to produce the same airflow - and it's not a very power-hungry card so it won't get that hot and need that much airflow to start with.

Every RX card at the moment will continue to be out of stock while ETH is so valuable. Consequently 1070 prices have risen, in part also because people are buying them to farm ZEC.
I bought a 1080 a while back (still using a freesync monitor, fastsync enabled) and haven't noticed any tearing in stuff I'm playing, but unless the 1070 drops to £280 across the board I really wouldn't recommend it, better getting a deal on a 1080 I think as they start to pop up for nearer £400.
Vega is released in a month, I reckon NV will drop prices of everything to squeeze AMD. Bad time to buy IMO.
On the other hand, if you have an 2X0/3X0/RX or even Fiji card and want to switch sides or make a profit, now is the time to sell. Miners are buying them up at stupid prices.

Looking at reviews and fps comparisons, the games I play I'll get about 40-60fps more and will run 1440 better than my 980. So I can sell my 980 to make this 1070 cheap as chips
