Good offer if you want the speaker mod / backing plate. Most of the negativity around this phone seems to stem from a combination of small battery and merely 'OK' camera (a mod is available for... eh, a lot of money). Even then, the camera mod doesn't fix the issue of low light pictures, which are a big factor in the UK.

I'm wondering if I should upgrade from a Nexus 6P. I almost bought the Moto Z instead of the Nexus last year but the price then put me off.

Love the idea of this phone with the extra battery for satnav on my bike and the Hasselblad zoom camera the rest of the time. But why do all the offers include the speaker that I have no use for?

My experience with Motorola devices sadly has led me to no longer recommend them. I purchased a Moto X Play back around September/October 2015. First one came defective but was kindly replaced by Amazon. Nearly 2 years down the line and its definitely not lived up to the expectations. Wear and tear seems to be more apparent on this phone, scuffs everywhere and overall durability is poor. Camera quality is good in daylight but seriously bad in Low light. And despite the phone running near stock android, it has seemed to slowed down a lot even with a few times of formatting the phone. Battery life has also shortened with me having to charge the phone mid day and most importantly (reason I'm upgrading to the S8) is because the charger port seems to have broken. Only certain cables work when turned and put up against something and the Brocken functionality of QC 2.0 meant it was time to upgrade.

Fantastic deal - now to work out how to return the John Lewis bought one from a couple of weeks ago.... cheeky

Damn I'm really tempted by this, but put off by the massive bezel in the bottom.

Still gets hot for people that don't mind smaller screen to bezel ratio, not not for me I'm afraid (good phone apart from that at a good price).

They won't repair or it goes faulty and it will!. Lenovo suck. Don't spend the same money that could get you an S7 instead.

Mine has just arrived from the previous offer. Comes with a free clear bumper. I've put a screen protector on, but because the edges of the screen curve slightly it doesn't fit that well. Just updating to Android 7 now.

Sound from the speaker add-on is good, even if I can't really see when I'll use it...!

If I hadn't bought my Lenovo P2 a few weeks ago I would most probably have plumped for this handset. The P2 is a replacement to my aging HTC One M7, which had been great but the battery was degraded and device was getting very laggy. Heat added for the deal found.

The battery life hasn't proved an issue for me, as a fairly heavy user - it's undoubtedly smaller that most, but QC really does work well. It'll get me through the work day and if I sit playing graphically intensive games for an hour or so of time when I get home, 10 minutes on charge and I'm sorted for the rest of the evening. Big fan of QC now.

Oh, and it's nice when died in the wool Apple fans are genuinely impressed by how light and thin it is - that's the benefit of that particular trade off. Completely offset by this in my case however - which is just as well, given the number of times I've dropped it:

Thanks OP. Decent phone specs for good price, it has noted criticisms regarding headphone jack and battery size, but this can be overcome. Was gutted not to get John Lewis £299 before, but this offer gets it for £289 with the JBL speaker and a style shell. Only black now left in stock.

My main concern when I had this was the camera, the lens is unbelievably easy to scratch and is massive.

Sent my back today as they refused to sent out the speaker and cap joke of a company same as i liked the phone

Such a disgusting company and very bad experience with customer care and their so call e-commerce department who handle or take decisions manually before selling anything. Placed first order, that took ages to come, earlier they also refused to edit the order even after contacting them very next day. Then reached post their agreed date.
Second order, they put that on hold, because while placing the order, I used my wife's first name and last name as this phone was for her but used my own email address to handle any communications with them. Now saying that their system has a glitch and can not handle one email address with two different first names.. what... and also they are saying that moto speakers are out of stock hence cant process the order.
Basically they have attracted lot of people by showing this offer, then hand picked some to clear the last pieces of MotoZ.
Are they nuts ... going to put a complaint in consumer court. This is such a rubbish service.. i have seen first time... going to cancel my first order too.

I did have an issue with order tracking, I think they've had some issues with it.
I received an email on Monday confirming that it was shipped, but never got confirmation, 5 mins on chat and they gave me the fedex tracking number. It was in Belgium last night, to be delivered by next Tuesday! so was surprised it came this quick!
