Being a typical bloke, I was tearing my hair out with it at first - just took it out the box, charged it and tried to fly it without even putting the landing skids and prop guards on. This wasn't helped by also coinciding with the consumption of a few ciders :smirk: Was driving me mad - skidding off sideways across the floor and banging off the furniture etc, so I gave in to sleep / cider.
Anyway, with a little more clarity this morning (!!),landing skids / prop guards in place, and having watched a few tutorial videos online, this thing is AWESOME fun  The trim settings were frying my brain last night, but with the drone actually built up correctly, this was a hell of a lot easier to dial in this morning.
I'd highly recommend downloading the app via the QR code on the front of the main manual, rather than searching for 'MJX-H' on your preferred app store, which just led to a string of unsuccessful app installations for me. The download link on their own website installs the correct app which works perfectly for me, even if the Android app is referred to as the 'Andrews' app due to dodgy English translation
As mentioned elsewhere, there's a little business type card in with the instructions that promises a free spare battery just by emailing them, although it seems hit and miss as to whether you'll get one. I ordered a spare at the same time as the quad for £5.99 on Amazon, but will probably now order the 4 battery bundle with the quad charger for £14.99 (edit: £15.99), now I know I'll be keeping it.
Overall, brilliant value and fun for £25 (+ spare battery). Just stick with it if you're having struggles at first - YouTube is your friend!. Oh, and lay off the cider until you're done playing
Thanks to the OP for the original post and for giving me a laugh over the weekend!

Code is product specific. Other drones available on Amazon for £49... This drone has more positive reviews but no discount, so unsure based on quality what to go for. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01JRS6WR0/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A2ZY23PBLMW54Z&psc=1. After further investigation, The OP drone is exempt from age restriction though, so I'm opting for it as a child's gift.

Ok so anybody knows how that compares to good old Syma basic model which you can get from china at prices starting from 21£ (X5 no camera model) this is a great price considering its from amazon.
I would expect its very similar but how are MJX for replacement parts for syma you can get motors, and sets of batteries really cheap.

Any single cell (3.7v) lipo will be fine as long as it physically fits (or you strap to outside etc  )
Syma X5 use a LOSI connector, this has the JST connector. It will 99% be only these 2 connectors on 1 Cell batteries

If you got one with a black remote without a lcd panel then most likely you have the crappy version and if you got the white remote with the lcd panel then you most likely got the original. I ended up with the black version so most likely a fake as the MJX website does not even list the black remote for the X series.
pasheast
10 Jun 17#71
I queried this with the supplier who has written back explaining that, "The X400W you received is the upgraded version of X400C, the drone itself has no difference at all , it is the controller that we have made it more simpler to manage, because the old version is a little complex." So, all good then!
pasheast
10 Jun 171#72
I would imagine that everyone got a black controller -- it is the one on the Amazon page. The one on the MJX website which you refer to states that it is a Version 2 (V2).

It was probably at the limit away from me but it seemed to be controlling fine. I was about to pull it back towards me and I just lost connection. Either it went out of range or the battery died? The wind while very low that day then took it in completely the opposite direction until I lost sight of it completely. A mate of mine bought one at the same time as myself and he lost his 2 days after mine, lol
