Nintendo’s follow-up console to the legendary Nintendo Entertainment System, returns in a new petite form as the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Launched in Europe in 1992, the Super Nintendo introduced what many consider some of the greatest video games of all time – classics such as Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid and F-ZERO. The Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System contains 21 pre-installed classic games, can easily be plugged into any high-definition TV using the included HDMI cable. For the first time, players who pick up the system can enjoy the intergalactic adventure Star Fox 2, the sequel to the original Star Fox (originally titled Starwing upon release in Europe) game that was created during the Super Nintendo era but never released … anywhere! The Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System has the same look and feel of the original system – only smaller – and comes pre-loaded with 21 games: · Contra III: The Alien Wars™Donkey Kong Country™ · EarthBound™ · Final Fantasy III · F-ZERO™ · Kirby™ Super Star · Kirby’s Dream Course™ · The Legend of Zelda™: A Link to the Past™ · Mega Man® X · Secret of Mana · Star Fox™ · Star Fox™ 2 · Street Fighter® II Turbo: Hyper Fighting · Super Castlevania IV™Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts® · Super Mario Kart™ · Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars™ · Super Mario World™ · Super Metroid™ · Super Punch-Out!!™ · Yoshi’s Island™ All of these games would be considered classics by anyone’s standards, and some of them in particular – Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy III, EarthBound and Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars – are massive role-playing games that can take dozens of hours to complete. Even for super fans who have playedall of these games multiple times, the inclusion of the never-before-released Star Fox 2 will offer them something entirely new to enjoy (players must prove their skill by completing the first level of the original Star Fox before Star Fox 2 is unlocked to play). Included with the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System are one HDMI cable, one USB power cable*, and two wired Super NES Classic Controllers – perfect for players to dive into multiplayer action right away. Some of the games with multiplayer options include Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting, Super Mario Kart, Contra III: The Alien Wars™and Secret of Mana.

I have to say I'm confused over why they would stop the Classic NES when it was selling so well then come back with a SNES at the similar price point.

Pre-ordered. I'm not taking any chances after how difficult it was to get an NES Mini. Thanks OP
Hopefully it'll have a similar OS to the NES Mini so that more games can be added to it, fingers crossed (_;)

I personally would have thought so if that is the finalised packaging. I just hope they make the controller leads a damn sight longer than the ridiculously short mini nes ones - pretty stingy with cable bearing in mind the price.

It's still a larger risk. If a scalper wants to double his money like they mostly did on the mini Nes, it will have to sell for at least £140. Hopefully with Nintendo finally supplying enough units, it won't get to that price.

Got two one for me, and one for my work mate, just in case they won't let me have two I pre-orded on amazon as well. If I get 3, can either give it some one as a x-mas present, sell it at a high price, or standard price to friends so win win.

neilanderton1
26 Jun 17#39
I'd argue it will go for more than that price. Though the NES reached a larger audience, this SNES offering is far more appealing to the gamer core, especially with that lineup of absolute classic (plus two controllers bundled in, plus the never releases Star Fox 2). A core that is much more willing to pony up the premium.

They confirmed they are producing "significantly more units" this time around but this is Nintendo Math. And in Nintendo Math that could just mean 11.

As a deal, is this a good price for the item, yes, so it should and will go hot. But, as already mentioned, get a Pi, a SNES usb controller and Recalbox and you have every single SNES game EVER available with a bit of web browsing. As well as every game you can think of for: Amstrad CPC computer. Apple 2 computer. Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari Lynx handheld, Atari ST / STE computer. Bandai Wonderswan handheld, Bandai Wonderswan Color handheld. Commodore Amiga A500, A1200 AGA, and CD32 console (all via the CD32 emulator) Game & Watch handheld / desktop games (eg whack-a-mole & AstroWars from the early 80’s). Magnavox / Philips Odyssey 2 / Videopac G7000. MSX computer, MSX 2 computer (the biggest selling games computers ever in the far east). NEC PC Engine (which blew away the Megadrive in its own back yard). Nintendo Gameboy, Nintendo Gameboy Colour, Nintendo Gameboy Advance handhelds, Nintendo NES, Nintendo FDS Famicon Disk System (Jap only rare NES add-on), Nintendo SNES, Nintendo N64, Nintendo Virtual Boy (the ultra rare failed VR console). ScummVm (a LucasArts S.C.U.M.M. interpreter emulator, allowing you to play classic “point and click” DOS games like Monkey Island, Space Quest, Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken etc ). Sega Gamegear handheld, Sega SG1000 (their first ever console), Sega Master System, Sega Megadrive, Sega MegaCD , Sega 32X (the Megadrive add-on that turned it into an almost but not quite Sega Saturn), Sega Dreamcast. SNK NeoGeo Max 330, SNK NeoGeo Pocket handheld, SNK NeoGeo Pocket Color handheld. Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128k, +2, +3. Sony Playstation. Sony PSP handheld. Vectrex (the crazy 80’s vector console that looked like a mini arcade machine with its own screen). And best of all…..MAME.... And still cheaper than this latest Nintendo rip off.

Ordered 1 from Smyths, 1 from Amazon and 1 from Shopto. Not for scalping reasons, I just expect at least one of them will run into supply issues. If I get a spare I'll likely give it to a mate for cost, or just cancel / return it. My hope is that around release Nintendo release a massive batch, just to shaft the scalpers. But, this is Nintendo. Pre-order allocation is likely 90% of all units they will ever manufacture.

How could it have sold out at half past three if they decide to delay taking pre-orders until a later time?! They sent out the emails when they did because that is the time they decided to start selling it! Just push back the time by a few hours to make it a fairer experience for all!
After the sold out/scalping fiasco that was the NES Mini and that bad taste it left in fans mouths you'd think they would have been more on top of this sort of thing.

Opening post

Hopefully it'll have a similar OS to the NES Mini so that more games can be added to it, fingers crossed (_;)
And another one here just in case  .
If that's the case, I might hold off for a bit. I wanted to buy this because of the allure in difficulty to get one.

More telling is they stated this "significantly more units" is for this year alone. With no other commitment beyond this year. So yeah, expect the same old Nintendo with regards to units. You best preorder.
No payment will be taken from you for your order until it is dispatched (home delivery orders) or collected (click & collect orders).
There will be a monthly subscription also where you can play any NES game available for Switch during your active subscription.
You mean like this?

Glad I got my order for 5 in.
But, as already mentioned, get a Pi, a SNES usb controller and Recalbox and you have every single SNES game EVER available with a bit of web browsing.
As well as every game you can think of for:
Amstrad CPC computer.
Apple 2 computer.
Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari Lynx handheld, Atari ST / STE computer.
Bandai Wonderswan handheld, Bandai Wonderswan Color handheld.
Commodore Amiga A500, A1200 AGA, and CD32 console (all via the CD32 emulator)
Game & Watch handheld / desktop games (eg whack-a-mole & AstroWars from the early 80’s).
Also, can you connect two controllers and play on TV?
It also has an SD card slot so potentially all the games could be added!!! No HDMI though :disappointed:

...and gone!
Edit: Just realised there is a Bangor in NI as well. Doh! Might have to cancel that preorder lol
What a ridiculous time! Why not send it out at 5pm, 6pm, 7pm etc... Not everyone has the luxury of being able to check emails at work!
Not cool Nintendo...not cool!
I reserved via Shopto and Smythes tho.
Will cancel if I can get it from Nintendo or Amazon.
Showing as back in stock now
Probably as you ordered 3
Just push back the time by a few hours to make it a fairer experience for all!
After the sold out/scalping fiasco that was the NES Mini and that bad taste it left in fans mouths you'd think they would have been more on top of this sort of thing.
I hope you gave them hell! Can they even raise the price of a pre-order? That's digusting
