Did this ever get patched do you know? and have they patch in more cars?
I see they have released DLC for 4 skins (I did put 4 skins yes).... for £1.99...
that take the epic mick in my honest opinion when the game shipped with so little content. I bought on day one and after watching vids and reading comments have yet to play it! completely buzz killed.

There was a patch/update of some kind a couple of weeks back. I've no idea if it fixed/added anything though. Too busy playing Forza to bother with this POS.

It's been sub-£18 in quite a few places before launch.

I haven't played it yet but the biggest gripe I've read in reviews is no co-op in races which makes sense as there is no split screen but myself looking forward to trying it out at the weekend

30 Jun 17#9
This shouldn't be going hot. I pre ordered at £17.99 and I'm feeling a bit bummed out after just a half hours play. 10 tracks, a heavy focus on the 'battle' mode and no single player tournament mode.
Honestly V3 on PS1 was far far superior. Will give it a little while longer tomorrow, but can see myself trading this in almost straight away, and I was so excited by it.
It's now totally obvious why they didn't release much footage before the game went on sale.
paulj48
30 Jun 17#10
that bad is it? was hoping it was like the original PSX version, spent many hours couch co-op with that.
BuzzDuraband to paulj48

I've only played it for an hour or so this morning, but from the get go you can see how bare bones it is. There's no Championship/Tournament mode, which I remember being a major part of the originals. I think there's about 9 tracks which is pretty weak (around 50% down from Toybox Turbos) and (iirc) around 8 vehicles to choose, which are all exactly the same, just skinned differently.
If you're a single player kind of gamer, you're not going to enjoy it very much. Codemasters have quite clearly pushed the focus of this game towards the multiplayer audience. I'd suggest taking a look at the reviews on Steam and Metacritic for a better feel of why this game is going to bomb (in my opinion).
I paid £24.99 on the Xbox Store at midnight and I kind of wish they had Steam's refund policy at the moment.

Got mine coming today from Amazon and going by that I think it will be straight on eBay, don't want to return as it was part of a multi-item order that I had some good discounts on. Really disappointing that there is no championship mode, the very heart of the game is missing. I am a primarily single player gamer, but I got on with the Megadrive and Playstation versions just fine as they had championship mode and very respectable AI drivers (especially for the time). Hate they way they have multiplayer scewed this one. :disappointed:
All I wanted was single player time trial mode with leaderboards. Not too much to ask. It's very bare bones.

It's not a bad game it's just not worth £20/25. I think if most hold off to around £10 they will be happy with it.

It's a really good online game, but feels limited - on playing for 4 hours last night, just trying to master the racing mode, I think there were only ever 5 tracks, which was disappointing. And that coupled with no 1 player campaign / mode, and no local multiplayer - I felt a little cheated. Racing mode is also weaponised, I kinda miss the simple racing mode from the originals, but I guess that might well be an update.
That said I did enjoy the 4 hours played on it, just hope we get some free DLC content in quick.

No local races, only elimination and battle mode. I suppose you could argue that elimination is the core of the classic nostalgia, but if you want a good old classic race, it’s a no sadly.

Just spent an hour on it and sadly it's not a patch on it's mega drive ancestor, I've still got the original with the extra controller slots on the cartridge set up! I will be binning this version - such a shame as it could have been mega!

I've read some not so great reviews on this, a real shame. Seems that there's a big lack of content as people have already pointed out. I would have loved for some of the old megadrive tracks remade for this. Is this much different from toy box turbos apart from the licenses?

ST3123 to davidjmansfield
30 Jun 17#52
Nope, if I remember correctly they were actually separate games in the UK at least. I know as I had them all back in the day. Amazingly the Megadrive saw 4 Micromachines releases, pretty sure all the other systems only got 1 and 2 but on Megadrive there was the original, 2: Turbo Tournament, Turbo tournament 96 and Military was the last Megadrive release in late 96, then the very next year they released V3 on the Playstation, which is the one most seem to remember today, though the real heyday for the series was the 16 bit generation, never been as good since IMHO, though the original Playstation game was pretty good in it's own right....

Hang on. Are we sure there's no local multiplayer? Taken from the Independent (I know, I know....) "While there is an offline mode for up to four players, it’s tucked away and rather restrictive. For one, there’s no option to race for more than one player, and you also can’t level up in this mode." Not at home so haven't had a chance to check.

Curiosity got the better and I gave it a go. Got to say I didn't hate it as much as I thought. But.... If Codies are serious about this being mainly online they need to work on their matchmaking etc. Tried an elimination quick race and took several long attempts to find a game. Then I was matched against an all AI field! No issues my end as rocket league was rock solid before and after.
