you only find mass effect 3 far superior because me1 and me2 were there to build up to 3. without me 1 and 2, 3 base game is not that great game the dlc make it better. but if you just compare me3 as stand alone game against mea there about the same level might even say mea is actually better due to the exploration part

To be honest, I'm a fan of the original trilogy and was somewhat sceptical when I read the early reviews (crappy writing, bad animation, etc) buutttt. I played the damn thing and spent 70+ hours throughly enjoying myself! Yes, it's different, yes in some places it's a bit weak...but, I personally found it really compelling! I loved the whole idea of working towards making new worlds inhabitable, fighting the pesky Kett, exploring the mysteries of the remnant and obviously the usual improving my character till eventually he basically becomes Neo and is capable of swatting most enemies aside with a biotic shrug.
So yeah, if you're a Mass Effect fan, give it a shot and keep in mind that it is different. However, it adds to the universe and is basically fun imho so you can't go wrong. Oh...and as annoying as Liam is, his personal mission towards the end of the game is probably the best of the bunch. But when you're done with that, choose Drack and remember that Krogans always = the win.

No. Definitely not. ME3 if far superior to MEA - story, companions, side-quests, voice-acting, writing quality, soundtrack. The only improvement from ME3 is combat.

it really depends in what aspect your looking at it. there some things which this game does better and some things which me3 does better. i wouldn't say it is better than the 3rd but I also wouldn't say it's worse. I think it's about equal.

Good deal though I expect this to be less than £20 in a month.

how's the multiplayer ? loved me3's and still play on occasion, a lot of reviews say the improved combat is one of the best things about andromeda

It seems that Mass Effect fans always have something to whine about, which is disappointing. People who become excessively emotionally invested in a video game should seek therapy. I'm glad I bought it.

Still can't bring myself to play this. No amount of patches can fix the corny story and terrible writing. Mass effect trilogy was a masterclass in character design and story (even the 3rd had it's moments), take that away and it's another generic shooter.
I get very little time to play games nowadays, but can't see me playing this over Witcher 3, fallout or other unplayed gems in the next 12 months.

dont understand the bad reviews dont really find the side quest that boring DA:I had wat worse side quest. Overall the planet exploring us fun but limited I find. but still it's a decent mass effect game not the best one but it's one wish they had more open world explorable planets but with all the negative critics I don't expect alot of dlc for this to come out but maybe I am wrong

I've finished MEA once and i cannot force myself to make another playthrough.
It's odd, cause I finished ME trilogy more than 10 times.
Overall not a bad game, but writing quality and companions VERY average.

I thought it was ok performance-wise when I got it on release, but I struggled to connect with the characters. Much preferred the original trilogy and am now currently 3/4 of the way through ME2.

Yeah, as always over hyped then over criticised when it has launch issues.
It's not the greatest game ever made of course, not that it was ever claimed to be. however I've not encountered any bugs at all.

Just got this on rent and only played a few hours but think its already a good game and look forward to putting more hours in to it, shame about the reviews but I understand as the game was apparently a mess when it first come out, should be given a go by previous lovers of the series despite the reviews

Honestly, I started playing it 3 or 4 weeks ago just after the latest (fairly large) patch, played it through to the end, and it played absolutely fine (on X1), like I look at the reviews and wonder what they're on about. The patch has done a great job, I don't think anyone needs to worry about glitches or bad lip syncing anymore.
That said, it would be nice if they gave the option to cut the landing/taking off scenes, especially with the amount of planet hopping you do

agreed, had it since launch but only started playing it last week - it's a good mass effect game, not as great as 2 but great fun exploring the planets.

This was up there with my most hyped games of the generation and would have been insanely disappointed in it if I wasn't knee deep in Zelda Breath of the Wild when the reviews came out, I will get this but in a few months when more patches are made available
