Comes with 15Bar pressure, so not bad for the price. Lidl do something similar every so often, but it's always out of stock when I pop down after work!

Actually...
A) Why is this expired?
B) It was offered for £39.99 in February!
Still thinking of getting one

I set a date for expiry when posting the deal. Usually by the next offer period, the old stuff is taken away
Being £40 in February is probably why there's still stock left, but "time machine" and all that lol
I've never seen things marked down in Lidl though. Any idea what day/time of week this is done?

Tons of these in my local Lidl today. I wonder if they'll mark them down actually, there were that many and the lnk is already down as it's a passed special.
Any more experience reports peeps?
Wasn't in the market for an Espresso machine just yet, but tempted to bite now as seems such good value.

I got the machine and the grinder on Thursday. Plenty in the Canterbury store then. Hopefully will get to try it in the next couple of days.

I tried to call a store earlier to "reserve" one for later today, and CS said we can't speak to store and we can't reserve even if we were put through. In previous sales of similar machine in LIDL, they were sold out by 10AM.
Has anyone been, or is anyone near a store to check if there's any stock left? IF none, what are the staff saying? I got a "Pfft, they were sold out almost immediately" once.

just buy a couple of espresso shot glasses. I paid £2.99 on amazon that way you get the perfect measure

The machine decides on the measure itself right? It just stops when it has produced a shot of espresso?

have had one for couple of years and use it most days and obviously the type of coffee you use is critical. only problem I've had is the filter housing handle is weak and constant locking into the housing has caused it to split and will soon come apart so will need to do a makeshift repair. You also need to keep the frother nozzle clear as the milk will dry and clog the tiny hole but there's a tool to unscrew it built into the coffee scoop/presser.

Great machine also takes pads..if you can source them. Asda do senseo pads 20 for about 5 pounds. I get mine from Lidl when over in Germany. Only about 1.59 for 20. Saves faffing about with loose coffee.

This type of coffee machine produces espresso shots (a traditional coffee machine) you then add hot water (americano) or steamed frothed milk to make cortado, piccolo or latte etc. The pod machines are idiot proof that can do it for you but you'll never get the same results as doing it yourself. There is a knack and you only learn this through doing it yourself.

Coffee machine looks brilliant, but the grinder I wouldn't touch. You want a burr grinder, blade gives you an inconsistent mix of dust and whole coffee beans, and everywhere inbetween. A proper burr grinder will give you a consistent grind, you can get a decent enough one on amazon/ebay for a smilar price

Shouldn't this be branded cresto argento to make it plausibly italian for marketing purposes :smirk:

I don't know the answer to your question but you'll want to get a metal jug for frothing milk. You need to pour the milk on top of the espresso, not the other way round, or it won't incorporate properly. The colder the milk the easier it is to steam the milk. I keep my metal jug in the freezer for that reason.

I have the Aldi one it's almost the same except the name, they make good espresso and froth milk for cappuccino.
Not as easy to use as pods, needs a little more care measuring and pressing the ground coffee into the portafilter.
First use is not usually the best result, but it doesn't take long to start making good coffee.
