I have a Yoga Tab 3 Pro which appeared to be quite slow (even though all the stats said otherwise), I checked for updates via settings and there was a firmware update available, this solved all the problems and it is now super fast compared to what it shipped with.

How much did you pay for the Yoga version because I looked at that before buying this one.

I think the "problem" with these cheap models are that they are pretty much as good as they get for the price. They are made to fit a price point. They basically just meet "adequate" usage. If you buy one with that in mind there is less chance of disappointment.

I think the Snapdragon 212 is the culprit. Nevertheless I am still ok with the one I bought.

Sister just bought the yoga version, which looks to have identical specs. Very laggy. I googled the problem and it's quite common. Apparently Lenovo made a bit of a hash of their android skin?

Then again, loads of good user reviews. Ho hum.

Can anyone recommend a good case and keyboard for the lenovo?

Looking at getting this for 7yr old Home educated child - mainly to use her learning apps on.
Her samsung tab 2 & my asus memo pad are getting a bit slow (and hard on my eyes... lol)

I bought my wife the Lenovo 7" tablet a while ago as she found her kindle too heavy. The 7" lenovo tab works fine with the kindle app and works extremely well as an e-reader, or in her case a kindle replacement. I see no reason why the 10" tab wouldn't serve as well although possibly a bit heavy for an e-reader.

Can anyone comment on how the Lenovo would be as an e-reader please? I've got an Amazon 7" fire but don't like it's app restrictions and had no success at all with sideloading (most of my books are from Nook and on epub).

I'd also like the larger screen size for reading I think.

I'd continue to argue that that 'HD' spec should have been called 1/2 HD and then the 'Full HD' should have been called HD. It was all very misleading from the start.

Anyone know how to go about rooting one of these? Having difficulty.

Thanks, I may have taken it literally, but as it stands I still think it's poorly worded. Still a bit torn on whether or not to get this for casting stuff to TV, using as a music centre, general browsing and taking abroad with me instead of my MacBook.

Its a bit of a minefield, lots of confusing stuff out there on the web. When I got mine home I noticed the model on the box states its a TB-X103F. But if you look online even a search on that model results in some conflicting information. I noticed both ram and cpu differences. From 1GB ram vs 2GB and Snapdragon 210 vs 212.

I can confirm this is definitely the 2GB version and comes with the 212 variant snapdragon cpu (1.3GHz).

As mentioned previously screen res is 1280 x 800.

You won't find much on youTube (I think there is one video somewhere that showed an Antutu result) I tried to find as much as I could about it. Very frustrating but in the end I took a chance. It's fine for the money.

Forgot to add, its the 16GB storage version. After installing only 3 apps, I have about 10GB free.

What's the actual model of this spec wise? I look online and it seems to have 32GB storage and a much higher resolution so I don't understand the variations.

Want to compare the specs to my Nexus 7 2013 and look up reviews on YouTube.

For all you slating the resolution as only being HD and not full HD I would not worry too much. I have the full HD version tab 2 and it's nothing to write home about. Mine has 1980 x 1200 resolution and I use to have the Lenovo Miix 300 running the same resolution but on windows instead of android. The miix screen was far superior to the tab 2. Same manufacturer, same screen resolution but processed entirely different. Sometimes it's not about the size but how it's used lol. The cheapest Samsung tablet, can't remember if that's tab A or tab E running 1280 x 800 pixels is definitely better than my tab 2 running 1920 x 1200. My guess is if you put my Lenovo tab next to the one posted you would see no or little difference.

I think you have taken the spec too literally. It means you can use a micro SD card up to 64gb. The spec refers to the memory card slot and not the total memory capacity of the device.

He needs a touch interface.

I saw him using it today and he seems happy enough. There was something I noticed that I haven't found the answer to yet.

He is used to his phone which in youTube if oriented in landscape automatically goes into full screen mode. On the Lenovo. It doesn't, you still need to click the full screen bit in the corner. Can this be changed? His eyes and fingers struggle with that and its simpler to be able to choose what he wants to watch in portrait then turn it into landscape if he wants it full screen. Can anyone comment?

A further comment is the battery doesn't seem to last that long 7000mAh. He said he used it a 2 or 3 hours today and it looked like 50% left. I did check the overnight loss which actually is very good. I checked the pad when I went to bed (98%) and when I woke 6 hours later, had lost 1%.

With a few tabs open in chrome and youtube, ram usage was 0.6gb.

The tablet isn't going to win any awards but for the price and availability I think its ok.

Hi, couple of questions for anybody in the know. Description says extra storage "16GB internal storage, expandable up to 64GB with MicroSD card. I would interpret that as meaning "64GB is the maximum total storage achievable, if you can find a 48GB MicroSD card". Seeing as a cursory search doesn't bring up results for 48GB cards, does this mean practically speaking that the biggest card you can use is a 32GB one, which means total storage is only 48GB? Or is this badly worded, and storaged can be increased BY 64GB? Anyone successfully used a 64GB MicroSD in these things?

Not had a tablet before, and would mainly be using for browsing, casting stuff to the TV etc. Any helpful advice gratefully received by this tablet noob.

Kids had a nexus 7 then updated to the Lenovo, the Lenovo is very good value and runs all the apps that my kids use (and there are many). I use a Sony Xperia tablet myself which cost easy twice the price but I was pleasantly surprised by the Lenovo's performance.

I haven't tried Youtube HD on my 8" one, but it won't do Netflix HD or Amazon Prime HD.

Got my mother this 2 xmas's ago and still working fine.Uhless a poster has actually bought one i'd take the majority of hating with a pinch of salt as comparing the Lenovo's speed/graphics etc with one 4x the price is absurd.

That's a decent tablet for £200, but the GPad was heavily discounted almost immediately after release and many (myself included) picked this up at £130 or thereabouts.

Everyone should refuse to buy tablets with less than 32gb, then manufactures will listen and we will get better products.

My missus says the 8 inches is good too.

It seems fine. Sure it's not all dancing and singing or the best quality but I don't expect that for this price.

I bought it for my Dad who needs something bigger than his phone to cast youTube to the telly. If I'd have bought an iPad for that I think much of my cash would have been wasted.

No its not as quick as either of them but that's just fine with me for under 100 quid. It does everything I want, is fast enough and with the SD slot had enough storage too. And 2gb ram. Which is more than the tab a (2016)
Its not top of the range but I reckon it's about the best you can get for the money.

Exactly Daniel. In the middle, I picked up a Galaxy Tab S2 from CeX for £190 which isn't bad. The performance isn't that much better than the Gpad though. If One Plus made a tablet, I'd be all over it.

Agree with these comments. I also have an LG GPad 8.3 - at least 3 years old - and have upgraded it to the Android 7 via an AOSP ROM and I must say, it is perfectly usable - in fact, significantly faster than some 'newer' tablets I've come across including a couple of Lenovo Tab 3's released this year.

It's a pity Android tablet development is now polarised to either a race to the bottom with specs which give you excruciating performance in 2017 or top end devices costing more than iPads .

This is why I've always bought used Nexus 7 2013's for friends and family. I've bought used LG Gpad 8.3's for people wanting a bigger screen. These tablets both have 2GB Ram and FHD screen costing a maximum of £80. Pity these tablets are getting very long in the tooth now.

2GB is pretty much the minimum for Android these days. 3GB is recommended.
Personally I am waiting for the Tab 4 Plus.

Still this is a great price for a cheap tablet.

I bought the 8" one, and it's worth noting that neither Netflix nor Amazon Prime will play in HD on this, as it's not a supported device. Bit of an issue with Android tablets, unfortunately.

Not best quality wise took mine back 3 times before getting a refund .
